Title: SF's comments on CGC covers
Post by: Shadowfox on November 21, 2015, 10:55:56 AM
It's my turn to say something about these amazing covers!  8)

First and foremost, thank you 'shenske' for all your awesome hard work you have put into these covers. <3

Shenske is being conservative in his 700 hour estimate, I know there were many covers which took him 2-4 hours to complete. He HAS been working on this for over a half year, shenske was one of the first guys to get a NES prototype case in hand, and ever since, he's been working on the covers.

Please take into consideration the time and energy shenske has placed into these, if it's on your heart, please send him a Thank you donation! I don't think a $1 per cover file downloaded is a high price at all and once you download it, you have them forever! If you can do more GREAT! Or less, that's awesome too! No one is tracking who downloads what or who donated or not... no pressure! Shenske is NOT asking for this, I am.

I have one last thing to say before I get off my soap box.  ;)

To you guys and gals here in thecoverproject who take these covers and resell them with cases all around the internet and the world. (And you know who you are  ;) )

I personally know a handful of you will automatically do the math here and know you would have never gotten these covers at this quality for a $1 per cover, I don't care how good you are at PhotoShop or how many employees you have focused on it. Your time and your employees time is much, much higher than $1 per hour.... or in some cases, $0.20 per hour.  I will not force anyone to do anything, BUT! Please consider the donation to Shenske as a one time fee, and feel good about paying the man who sacrificed a half year of his available life for this cause.

You can send all PayPal donations to shenske here: shenske37@hotmail.com

*Stepping off my soap box*  :)

OMFG YES!!!

Ya from what I've seen the last comment he made about the labels are in June or July of this year... Is there a link we can get to just download the entire set of them instead of searching one by one?

Short answer: No!

Long answer: We don't want cover sellers to have too easy time. ;)

But that would still defeat the purpose. "I'll just donate $1, then I can download the whole list of covers in one fell swoop!" Cover sellers would still have it way to easy.

Another thing, to download all the covers in one click would use a ton of bandwidth from the site, making it hard for actual current and active members to get on. We've seen way to many problems with that and don't want it any worse.

Right now since all the covers are hosted on mediafire it will not affect our bandwidth

How about a torrent?  I've got a few servers around the US that could seed it on 100mbit pipes for a few months (then I'd probably just reduce it to seeding from 1 or 2).

Palmer, I sent you a PM. It may have been eaten by the system again.

That was me, for my 11 cases :) I did mention "monjici" in the comment, but nobody reads that  ;)
I hope I wasn't the only one though, that's just enough for 1 tall beer, you need more after all these covers :P
