I just subscribed to PS-UK magazine, so will be getting 1 a month (and may try to get hold of the old ones too) - Is there any call for these? (the discs come in a crappy CD wallet)

Damn... maybe I should see if it's possible to get a UK magazine subscription. I wish US OPM would realize that most of us don't like having demos take up what little hard drive space there is on our PS3s. I'd gladly pay more per issue for a demo disc than the current case, which is not paying for OPM at all.
Good work, by the way. Nice and clean looking. This would be a nice way to kill the PS3 cases I've accumulated that wouldn't be put to use any other way.

Your right, and the fact that its takes forever to download most things. It just took me almost 2 hours to download the Mirror's Edge demo.

2 hours? That's fast. =P I have to keep my system on while I sleep when I download stuff, and sometimes it still isn't finished by the time I wake up!
Though honestly, I blame the crappy internet connection here at the university as well as the fact that I'm usually downloading demos from the Japanese PSN store.

Well, I just found out the demo discs are region locked. Bummer. And stupid at that; what is the point of region locking demo discs in the first place?

I have acquired extra copies of 24/25 (ebay when buying 22/23) - so if there is anyone out there with a US machine (pref in the UK) that wants to try these to get a definitive on region locking, let me know and i'll send you them..................

Heck, I'd love to try them out, but I don't have much money at this moment so it may be awhile. (But yeah, I'm in the US, so don't worry about it.)
I was reading a message board and according to someone who claimed to have obtained one of the demo discs and tried it on his US PS3, it gave him a region lock out message.
I just looked on eBay and one of the vendors selling this claims that it "Works Worldwide", so maybe the rumors of region locking were greatly exaggerated. However, I saw another vendor was warning international buyers that it is a PAL disc and will not play in NTSC machines; so I guess we're back to square one.

probably not, that would get pretty cluttered i think. I'd say keep them seperate for each type of case.

Wasn't sure where to dump this, so figured here was as good as any...
I'm currently working on a set of custom Final Fantasy covers, spawning multiple platforms so I've done some heavy modifications to the current PS3 template(s) listed on our site to come up with a newer one, which as a Horizontal Playstation 3 bar at the top instead of the Vertical one on the left of the front cover (that option is also in the .psd as well, in addition to some others that I played around with at one time for my customs)

o.O -- I assume it's the PS3 case dimensions. I used LJ42's as my starting point and never even bothered to look and compare; but I will check dimensions when I get home and compare it to my normal BD template.
Oh, and for some reason i forgot to make the ESRB logos on the front visible and the PSN logo on the back visible (1:30am is too late for me to be trying to save jpg images when I gotta be up at 6 the next day)

Well, I've found out from personal experience that LJ42' template doesn't have correct dimensions, at least when it comes to US PS3 cases. All of my SF4 covers are messed up because of that, apparently...
So... just be aware of that.

Good to know ;) You don't happen to know the 'proper' dimensions of the standard US case do ya? Shouldn't be too much work to modify (would explain why my printed sample seamed a little snug, I was just chalking it up it being heavy photo paper).
Edit: Went and grabbed the various dimensions from the SF IV thread...
"Insider Admin FAQ" says 3189 x 1776
the7k used 3286 x 1776
Sheep2001 says 3224 x 1760 or 3213 x 1760 (based on scans and measures)
Jigsaw says 3213 x 1760 (based on trial and error of all mentioned, resulted in best fit / proportions)
Any definitive answer on which we're going with?

The difference between 3224 x 1760 and 3213 x 1760 is pretty insignificant, so I'd probably go with one of those.
But yeah, the jury is still out on this one.

Never said I intended to upload them here, and for the record I don't think they are. Love certain aspects on many of them, but they're not the same or similar across multiple platforms.
Was simply the reason I set off on creating a template with a Horizontal PS3 banner. *shrugs*
But even if I had intended to upload them here, are we only allowed to create covers for games which no one else has yet?

You can make a cover for any game you want, as long as it has an official release.
It's just that there are a lot of FF covers.

Ok, re-sized (man that was a bigger pain that I was initially thinking... then again I did tweak and clean a few things as well...)
Oh, and ultimately template size ended up being 3226x1758, ended up putting in the dimensions given on the linked official alt cover, both as Inch and CM, ended up coming this way *shrugs* it's 1 extra row of pixels on the spine (but it did come in handy for a few things :D)

Snowcone's no idiot- he probably sanitizes his uploads so only *.jpg can get through. You can try, but upload it somewhere else and I'll add it to the templates thread. I'll update the dimensions thread. 3226x1758 are the dimensions of the official Resistance 2 cover?

Was going to try a few of the other hosting sites which say they'll accept .psd files but the amount of personnel information they wanted was amazing!

Just wondering, has anyone tried converting PS3 covers to Blu-Ray cases?
I dunno if it is a regional thing, but it seems like you can fit four Blu-Ray cases where only three PS3 cases could go on a shelf, thanks to the slimmer spines. Upon testing it with a few games of mine, the Blu-Ray case can still hold the manuals and game just fine - all it seems to need is a smaller spine.
I see a few of you uses Blu-Ray style cases in your templates, but have you tried them in actual practice? I'm just wanting to trade over because a) Blu-Ray cases take up less space, b) They'll blend with my movies, and c) they just look cool. =P
Edit: Just wanted to say that I've tested the case dimension for "Standard Blu-Ray Case" here http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=39.0, and the template spine is too thick. I assume the template image is for United Kingdom covers?

UK Blu-ray cases are of the thickness of PS3 Game Cases.
However NTSC Blu-ray cases are much slimmer. It's a regional thing.

the blu-rays i have are a bit smaller than the ps3 games, i have both uk blu-ray and ps3 games

It's possibly also a difference in size depending on the studio that releases the movies. At least in Germany Blu-Rays from FOX come in clear blue cases wiith the size of a normal DVD case. So the spines are roughly double the width of a standard case. All the other Blu-rays I have (all German/EU PAL) are in a standard Blu-Ray case. Maybe other studios in other countries do the same.

I have about 30 something PS3 game and I'll take the time to scan them, but only if there going to be used, I scanned a ton of japanese Saturn games that were never used, and everyone is aware of the time it takes scanning. lol. So let me know. I will start scanning soon.

I got Uncharted 2, and it has a different spine and header on the front. It has like PS2 has it on the header except it says PS3 with the logo on the left. And the spine no longer has that red tip, but now has black with the same PS3 vertical logo on it. Is this the new style? If so, I'm going to have to change all my PS3 games.

Yes it's the new style, it's all part of Sony trying to rebrand itself. The PSP has also changed slightly to reflect the new PS3 design. We already have a topic about this somewhere on the forums (I'd look for it but I'm on my phone and it's a little difficult). Could you scan in your Uncharted 2 so we have somewhere to start with the conversions?

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. I'll be putting in a request in the forum for several covers with the new header and spine tip. Nothing major, the covers are good as is, just need the new look. I would appreciate if someone could help me out. I would do it, but my Grandma just passed away this morning and I'm going to be busy with family stuff for the next week or so. Thanks.

My PS3 template has the correct deminsions that we decided. I would just give you the pixel size but I'm not on my computer right now so I can't check.

Printed and tested on my own case.
Yeah, the Chun Li is a bit blurry but that's the only real noticeable issue once it's printed. Of course, i have noticed some minor issues but if I tell you them (and if you look for them) you'll always see them, but won't unless you try.

Anyway. Final Fantasy XIII, in both the new and old style, with a better looking spine than the retail version has, which was just a very basic font.

Not really digging the stretched out look on the old style one, but it actually isn't that bad. Could be a lot worse. Tried to make it the same size as the retail one, but there was just too much white space on the top and it looked weird.

Hrm, I honestly can't imagine it looking any stranger or more unattractive than the stretched image. Couldn't you make it a little less empty by just resizing and moving the logo?

Was working on this, but I've hit a block, so I figured I'd up what I have and see if anyone might be able to help. Styled it after Shenske's lovely covers for the other systems, but I can't seem to find a high quality version of the crystalline Cocoon to use for the background image on the front. I tried just blowing up the one I had and applying varying degrees of filters to it, but couldn't come up with anything I liked. Also, I've yet to figure out how to get the PS3 information boxes on without sacrificing the smaller area of the blu-ray case's back. (Also, I know the side screenshots are not formatted properly to match the other games (they should be tilted top and bottom, forgot the bottoms when I did them), but that's a nice easy fix. Also, I still need to add Square-Enix and the 20th anniversary logo to the front, which I'm waiting to do until I have the background done.)

Hey guys, hope this isnt the wrong place to post some of these. These are a few of my own works, custom. I've made a "ton" of ps3 covers besides theses, all different regions, so if you guys like these, There are plenty more. The JoJo's Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle case I made about 5 or 6 months before the game came out. I had to use google for image resources and just wing it in being as creative as possible for making the spine and back...Enjoy.

Would it be possible for you guys to make a custom retail cover for Mass Effect 1 for PS3 that is based off the Xbox 360 cover? I say this because EA didn't put Mass Effect 1 on a disc on PS3 until the Mass Effect Trilogy came out in December of 2012, and it never had a separate box like Mass Effect 2 and 3. They also did the same to the Crysis series, except that it was only available on PSN and not as a retail physical copy.

Seriously? That's really screwed up! I have a preference to US (NTSC), but it kind of sucks that the EU (PAL) version is the version I'd want. Because I hated how the US version isn't like the EU version with separate boxes for each game (Multiple discs in one box seems to be the thing for quite a few NTSC PS3 collections). Because I really wanted a box I could display for the 1st Mass Effect on PS3; despite that it was originally only on Xbox 360 until the ME Trilogy came out.
***I'd like the custom retail cover art to look like the the EU Trilogy cover version with the necessary NTSC components on the box in the place of the PAL components of the cover art.***

I'm not sure if any of you guys have heard about this or not, but if you already have, then disregard it. Apparent;y PS3 is changing their label style for the 3rd time in the PS3's life span (apparently this happened around March of this year) and they did it so that all the current Playstation console games will look uniform, but in our minds I pretty sure it's a living nightmare. Am I right? It might just add to the confusion of parents or non-gamer family buying games for you or others. That definitely stops me from buying any newer PS3 games I'd want; which was namely Dragon Age: Inquisition; which is coming out this fall.

Someone had me make this cover when the Trilogy came out. Your cover is better then the one I did a few years back. However, this cover does have the proper barcode from Trilogy set. So, you can take the barcode off of this you wish. Or at least get the numbers for a barcode generator.

That is fantastic, buuuuuut. Any chance of getting Mass Effect 1-3 with FemShep? It was stated when the Mass Effect trilogy came out that even though they wouldn't be doing a FemShep version of the box art that there would be something for FemShep fans. . . .this never happened. Would be nice to finally see that happen.

Hi, everybody! I'm very excited to share my very first PlayStation 3 cover with all of you. It's Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL. This was requested by Enbalmination. When he sent me the request, I kept thinking how fun it would be to make a PlayStation 3 cover. I have been making covers for five years. In those five years, I never made covers for any of the PlayStation systems. This cover took quite a bit of work, including tracing the logos into vectors. I'm very happy with how nice it came out in the end. There are so many PlayStation 3 games out there and it's hard to decide what to buy. I plan to make more PlayStation 3 covers, eventually. I have many Game Boy, NES, and Super Nintendo covers coming soon in the other threads. Be sure to check often for them. Happy gaming!
