Quite a few items in that little room.  I do like the shelves though they are basically a perfect fit for the games and movies.

Thanks im gonna line it all up with shelves and stuff
heres the sketch for the cabinets im going to build for the systems.
I dont own all the systems yet but im planning on getting them.
im going to make each shelf for the systems probably 11in height width will vary based on the consoles. so im going to have to get dimensions.

Try Google searches.  I've had good luck with that in the past.  Once you do that, provide a list of the consoles you are still looking for.  If I have it (and I probably will), I can measure mine.  I just don't want to measure every single console I have if the specs can be found easily on Google.

It works for me, but you have to copy the entire link and paste in a web browser.  For some reason, the hyperlink on the webpage doesn't include the entire link and just takes you to the main page.  That's why only part of the link is underlined.

But yes, embedding the picture into the forum would be much easier.  That way you can see the picture without leaving TCP.  ;)

ok i think these are right
atari 2600 3.5h 13.5w 9d
atari 5200 4.25h 15w 13d
but how much space do i need for the cartridge? I was thinking of making the shelfs 10in high for all of them
i need measurements for
atari 7800
atari jaguar
atari jaguar cd
sega saturn
intellivison
sega genesis model 2 with 32x and cd attached (this might have to go ontop if to tall)
and pong
the reast I own and will measure

I can measure all except 7800, Intellivision and Pong.  But I'm not sure when I'll have time.  We have family over tonight, so it might be another day.

One thing to think about with the Genesis is that a very fun game worth owning and playing is Sonic and Knuckles.  This game has lock on technology which allows you to put Sonic 2 or 3 on top and get extra features.  This makes your Genesis/32x combo even taller.  Throw in a Game Genie and it gets a little crazy.  Plus you can always add a Sega CD and either model will make everything taller (although model 1 will be worse).

Make the top "row" of systems taller than the others.  Besides the 32x tower, you may want a game genie\super Gameboy in a snes, or a supercharger in a 2600 for example, and they eat up a lot of height.  And the intelevision needs extra room on the side, if you ever get the voice add-on. The duo needs room on the side for it's video plug too, if you ever pick one up.

Sorry, I didn't get those measurements yet.  I didn't forget.  I still have a note on my desk to do it.  I'll try to get to it this week.

Ozzy makes some good points though.  Something to think about.

Another option would be to put any tall consoles on the bottom shelf and keep the cables log enough that those consoles could be pulled out and sit on the floor while you are playing them.  Then you don't have to worry about how tall they are.  When you are done, you can slide the console back onto the shelf.

I do this with my Odyssey2.  Since you need the keyboard on the console to select games, if has to be close to you while you are playing it.  So I have to pull it off the shelf everytime I want to play it.

I was thinking about pulling some out because you can't extend the control cords as well I got a new sketch I'm working on its got doors on it also because ima pit some prints on them. I might need to go taller because I keep adding consoles haha

Atari Jaguar with CD
9.5" wide by 12" deep x 9" tall
The height will allow for enough room to open CD tray and remove a cart from the back.  This does not include room for cables in back.

Sega Saturn
10" wide by 9" deep x 8" tall
The height will allow for enough room to open CD tray and remove a cart from the back.  This does not include room for cables in back.

Sega Genesis Model 2 with 32x
9" wide by 9" deep x 9" tall
The height will allow for enough room to remove one cart.  More room may be needed for a Game Genie or Sonic & Knuckles lock on cart.  This does not include room for cables in back.

Japan to US needs no video upscaler, and the AC adapters I think wok in the us with not problem, ask Wiggy.

Also Sketchup by Google is a good 3D design software, and I think free

I am all too aware of what having a small room is all about. I have a small 8' x 10' spare room that I turned into a makeshift media/gaming room. At the moment it consists of current and last gen games/consoles (with a softmodded Wii U for Gamecube/Wii games which helps with not needing the discs). I want to bring out all of my retro games at some point however, so a friend suggested that I look into getting one of these:

He has a pair of these, one for his PS1/PS2/PS3/Xbox 360 collections, the other for retro (NES, SNES, Genesis, etc.). One houses approximately 1000 PS1 games (or a little less for DS/3DS games, or over 400 360/PS3 games, or over 800 Xbox One games. Each unit can fit in a 2 foot square, so they take up very little real estate.

I am thinking about grabbing two of these myself to place on either end of my two Billy bookcases (which I use for Blu-Rays). Here is an outdated pic of my movie and game collection. The thing on the left is what I am thinking of replacing with the media carousel/spinner.

Got number of how many UGC/Clamshell/Shadowfox cases would fit into this?

what exactly is that thing called?

i am also limited on space and this could help alot

I always count in terms of DVD thickness:

1 ShadowFox Case = 2 DVD cases

3 UGC = 5 DVD cases

1 Genesis case = very slightly less then 2 DD cases

1 DS case = 1 DVD case

I look at it the exact same way, but it's also worth mentioning that DS cases are the same height as CD jewel cases which means if you are just using those, you can fit more shelves which means you can fit more on one shelving unit.

Looks like its a "revolving Media tower". Imagine that ;-P

I actually looked into these, but most are rather short and do not have this kind of capacity.  This is HIGHLY appealing to me..  I never thought to look around again recently..  It may be time to buy a couple and be done with my storage shortage!

This is excellent solution for corners BTW..  You waste so much floor space with corners.  having this instead of some shelves butting up to each other makes more sense..

I have to get some measurements for my game room, but laid it out roughly in visio and I think if I bought 2 of these, I could get all my DVD cased games in a more compact area. I can't fit my PS3, Wii, or DS collection anywhere in this room, but this could solve that!

Something to note, while it's only about 19in square, to rotate it you need a 2.3-2.5 ft radius around it to be clear of other objects.  I don't know if I would cluster them like this, but a minimum safe distance between the shelves is 4 3/4 in, but I would think 5 inches to 6 inches would be more "safe".

(http://i.imgur.com/ZeaBf9Pl.png) (http://imgur.com/ZeaBf9P)

If you can't reset your shelves or don't think you'll remember, you have to increase that space by another 6 inches.  So basically a 1ft gap between shelves.

Did a little more analysis.

Seems that it's hard to beat the wall shelf, but really depends on the space you have available to you.  Overall, you use more SQ Footage with the spin shelf for the same amount of storage, but you use it in a different configuration, basically a square vs. rectangle.

(http://i.imgur.com/FoYyzWsl.png) (http://imgur.com/FoYyzWs)

This means that depending on your space you could get that same amount of storage  if you can extend into your floor space more away from the wall..  If you can't or don't have the clearance.. well that's tough.

i'm scared to do anymore 'room' shit' (there's a few images of some stuff, but they're buried in an old thread, a crime to exist) paranoid, and embarrassed, extra-aware, as it were.
best i can do to back up my talk, is prove it by supplying scans, and so far, TCP sucked up all my shit, not called me out to prove anything, the scans are proof in itself.  :D
whatever happens, DIY safely, and don't drill something i would.   ;D

It's been more than 10 years since I've been without a truck.  I couldn't possibly make it without one.  If I rented a truck every time I used mine to haul or tow something, I would have paid for my truck twice by now.

Funny thing is, now that I'm a minivan owner (yippee  :P) I get a lot of hauling done with it as well.  Being able to fold the second and third row seats completely into the floor in a matter of seconds is tremendously helpful.  Hell, you can haul 4x8 plywood in the back with the seats folded down.  But at the end of the day, I still need my truck for the stuff that's either too big or too heavy for the van.  The gas mileage sucks, but that's why, up until recently, I had the TDI diesel for my daily driving.  The ONLY reason I even got rid of it was due to the age and high miles, it was starting to cost me too much in repairs (both time and money).  Yes I know, my member ID is only half accurate now...... :-\

Yeah, I NEED a truck at this point for the business. I'm hauling WAY too much stuff around in an A3 hatchback.  That, and I often have my employees running errands and picking up materials. Between the lot of them, there's an Acura RSX, Toyota FRS, a B4 A4 sedan, and a Buick sedan.  None of them exactly good for hauling materials, plus I'd rather they not have to use their own personal vehicles for work purposes.

That said, the RSX can actually handle a LOT more than I would expect. I don't know how he gets some of the stuff in there, but he'll come back from Lowe's or Home Depot with WAY more stuff than seems possible to fit in that thing.

Well I had to rethink my game room haha. Have a kid on the way and stuff. So it had to be turned into his bedroom. That's why I havnt been as active as well.
But I've moved my game room stuff downstairs to living room/dinning room. So it's still getting there but since i have moved it i think I'm gonna go for a complete original xbox collection I have a bunch to still get haha I'm only at 79 haha. But alot of the games are not that expensive and I'm still working on my complete n64 collection

...I don't actually care.   ;)

But I will point out this sort of this is policed at the federal level.  Local cops don't typically care or have any real say in the matter.  And this isn't the type of thing that one would receive jail time, more like huge fines.  Or the MPAA or RIAA will sue the pants off you if they have the opportunity.  Sucks.

I dont know anyone with OG Xbox cases but if you are ok with 360 cases, BRE Software sells them online:

I've got a few games in the mail this week that are in 360 cases and they don't look to bad I might just do that because they also look slicker and cleaner haha I'll be posting my December finds in the right thread

so we moved I have a gamroom again haha it's s huge mess slowly fixing it up. where it sits it leads to the garage so we are going to be converting the garage into my game room as well. I'll be posting pics of the room and the cabinet build when I get my computer back again but the way I'm building it it will go completely around the room then the stairs will lead down to the garage and that's where I'll have my mame cabinet I'm building and my computer and maybe some more shelving out there for display as well
