Title: Request (DONE:) 3DO Lucienne's Quest NTSC Cover
Post by: travistouchdown on September 10, 2015, 10:20:53 AM
This is the second rarest 3DO game (after Dino Park Tycoon) and the most sought after, so i was surprised not to see a DVD case up here on TCP.

Anyone have a cover in their personal reserve, or would anyone be willing to make one for the greatest JRPG on the 3DO?

Thanks!!

-Rick

Had a quick look online, and couldn't see any high quality RAW's for the game.  Always a problem with the rarer titles.  We can certainly knock one up with what's available, but it won't be great.

UPDATE! found a manual this isnt exactly super high reso but its better than anything else i could find..not the prettiest either but i think someone good at making covers could restore it i searched for the manual saved the files in jp2 format then converted it to bmp if anyone wants the cover in the .jp2 format let me know (http://i61.tinypic.com/2hrhbgz.jpg)

Awesome! Yes I have this manual but not the longbox otherwise i'd scan that.  Hopefully a cover artist who enjoys the 3DO will be willing to take on the challenge.  Of all the games for the 3DO that don't have covers on the TCP, this should be near the top of the list.   8)

do you have a scanner? as the manual could be scanned and altered by a person that restores the cover if you can scan it in 600dpi someone could probably make a long box/dvd case label for you because the 2 images ive found arent up to snuff for most they CAN be used but it wouldnt look as good as if they had a high reso of the box or manual im pretty sure the picture i just gave of the manual is the highest  reso on the internet

If you scan the manual, I might b e able to do something with it.

You can't directly.
You'll have to upload to Mediafire or Box, and then link here.

Okay here we go:

Let me know if that link isn't working, I will try to test it myself.

Moire is a bit heavy. Any chance you can re-scan it using descreen?

I messed with the settings on my HP scanner and this is the highest quality I can get:

https://www.dropbox.com/home?preview=Lucienne%27s+Quest+2.jpg

I didn't see a "de-screen" option on the options screen.

Link does not work

Here we go:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/mc72ig14oz2hqv3/Lucienne%27s%20Quest%202.jpg?dl=0

Forgot to use the "share" URL on dropbox.

I still have it on 600dpi, the only other option I saw to get it higher quality would be a higher dpi, I think my scanner goes up to 1200

Thanks in advance!! Can wait to put this game in a DVD case!!

i believe without a good scan that isnt ate up it wont be possible i know you scanned it at 600dpi but its still got the blur to it on the arts everything else looks great but the art on the front and the screenshots on the back..that will be a tough one for someone to recreate

I scanned it several different times and unfortunately that's the best my cheapo HP can do.. Someone out there must have a copy of this game and a good scanner.

Have you got a phone that takes pictures in hd? Try taking a picture in hd well lit (dont think flash would be a good thing tho)

Just so you know, I have spent more than a few hours searching for usable art, and TRYING to make any of the available scans and photos to work, but everything I tried was pointless - it always looked like shit.

I think the original print had a strange almost interlaced effect on it, so low quality scans just exaggerate it.  Gonna need something like a clean 600dpi scan to get it to work.

Thanks so much for your efforts thus far.  I did a scan of the highest quality my scanner would do, i'm sorry it wasn't quite up to par.  I'm really surprised given the cult following this game has and its rarity/popularity on the 3DO that no one has a box somewhere they can scan for this effort.

I put my 2 disc copy of "D" for 3DO into it's 2-DVD case home (With cover project art insert) and it looks oh-so-slick.   This art is my #1 want right now...hoping someone can help us out with a decent scan.

Can you try taking a hi res photo of the manual cover?  Need decent light, but no flash.  Might give better results than the scan. Unlikely, but worth a shot.

I've actually taken another stab at it today - got something that SHOULD print okish- still pretty shitty.  Had to use 4 different images to get it to work.  Which template are your 3d0 games using?

That looks amazing!! I hate to be a pain but could you pretty please do it with the NTSC theme? That's what I have the rest of my collection in so just trying to stay consistent.

Thanks again and I guarantee many fans of the game appreciate your efforts!!
