Title: Imgburn
Post by: TDIRunner on August 12, 2015, 08:59:09 PM
Does anyone have any suggestions for downloading Imgburn?  I can't seem to download it without my anti virus deleting it.  There seems to be too much adware included now.

anti-virus is probably complaining about the "OpenCandy" deal.
whenever you run the installation program, choose the custom installation option. do not check additional software/offers.
it should install without candy.

infrarecorder is another option.

Yeah, there is a lot of adware on the install. Click custom and uncheck or decline all options when they pop up. No matter what, it's still a great free utility, and you only need to set it up once.

Agreed, I just installed the newest version a few days ago. Just do the custom install and in luck everything else that it asks if you want to install them.

I can't do a custom install because I can't even try to install it.  My computer is deleting it before it finished downloading.  I've tried to restore it and I've tried to list it as safe, but it does not like the downolad.  :-X

have you tried temporarily disabling the antivirus until after the program installed? I've had to do that on a few programs before and I just enabled it once it was finished.

That will be my last resort.  I thought I would check to see if anyone knew of a different download method.

Thanks.

When I downloaded imandix, my antivirus was just doing the same thing. I finally just disabled it long enough to download it. When I enabled it again it pointed at imandix and was like "wtf man?! Are you sure this is safe?" I told it to stfu and it's safe and it's been all good since.

What antivirus do you use? I use Panda due to it being the least intrusive and as of this year has some of the best ratings.

Also I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but is anyone else having problems with imandix? It works for me but acts up a lot. Plus when it installs it never wants to make directories it's just a mess of files all in one folder.

I'm using Norton, which I've considered to be pretty intrusive up until recently.  Like I said, I'll turn it off and install as a last resort.  But first I'll wait to see if Noemann or anyone else has a copy they can send me that doesn't include the adware (which I think is what is causing Norton to have such a fit).  I wish Norton could filter out the crap and allow Imgburn through.

Norton has never seemed intrusive to me until after instaling Window's 10.  Not sure if it's related or not, but that's what I've seen.

ok TDIRunner, here is the link to the zip file:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/5gxvz4dt7g5c4ym/apps.zip

inside is ImgBurn 2.5.7 or such and an old version of InfraRecorder (i think that is the name.)

i use Comodo firewall since 2010 or so. Comodo alerts me that ImgBurn app Apnstub attempts a connection to the internet during setup. I simply suggest that you disconnect from the internet during installation.

Hopefully your firewall allows you to run this version.
Otherwise try IR.

I have to go now. lots to do today. let me know how it goes please.
be back later ...

just got home. i only slept 3 hours this morning, so i am tired [sigh]
i am going to try to nap a bit this evening.

anyway, i usually save copies of open source software. i've had those on my drive since last year or two years ago.
i also keep copies of linux, windows and all of the critical updates for windows xp-through-7.
i have a large folder named software on my drive.
i don't burn images anymore since external drives are available but i keep copies of imgburn/ir just to make sure i have something for burning.

i hope that you can get this one to work. it is the only version that i have on my drive.
i'll check later to see how it goes...

It installed on my computer which is farther then I got on my own.

I haven't had a chance to use it yet and I don't think I'll have time tonight, but I'm sure it will work.

Thanks again for your help.  I'll try to get those scans to you some time early next week.

Last night I was awake late enough to try it out and I managed to burn one disc.  It worked perfectly.  I'm very pleased with the program.  I get that the programers are trying to pay the bills with the adware that's been added in to the current version, but it's gotten to a point where my computer just doesn't trust the download.  Kind of defeats the purpose I think.

Glad you got the older one to work good. I got the files for Dreamcast homebrew if you need/want them.

There are lots of things that can be burned to CD other than video games.  I just knew that this site would be a good source for Imgburn troubleshooting.
