Title: Request : Retail or custom 3DS/DSi Downloaded games
Post by: Arcade Elite on August 11, 2015, 02:29:39 PM
Hi, I got this idea the other day. I was playing my 3ds yester day and I was playing one game from the G.G. Series and I found out that all the games from the G.G. Series are on 3ds cart that is retail in japan. So that got me thinking if some or most of the downloadable games are on cart over seas than why cant we make are own carts for them. And I looked in to it and you can technically. Any 3ds or dsi game you download you can save to an SD card and there is your cart retail game rate there. And the best thing is most small games don't need that much memory so a 1G SD card is only $1. So I was hoping if there is any other artist on this site that is a Retro Collector or just a 3ds collector that would like to help me make retail covers for downloadable games for the 3ds and dsi that would be sweet. Let me know what anyone thinks please because I think if you only need a ds case and a $1 sd card for a game, I think it is worth my collection. Also it is a way to have each of those games as back ups if your 3ds ever go's up or hacked or corrupt ect. and it helps the retro gaming community, what do you guys think? I mean how can you not want a gunman clive retail game. Anyhow here is list of 10 games if anyone would like to help start this.

1Year or so normal wait time on low priority covers.

Or you can always make them yourself, and if you do please share.

The cover project doesn't have a paid crew of individuals making covers. Most members work on their own projects and share their work. Others are only passionate towards console they care about. Everyone that's on this site has a job and family and children etc... However, we do our best to help individuals, like yourself,  who have ideas for their collections. We provide templates and our threads are filled with guides.

I understand that but retro games are not low priority covers.  http://www.reaxxion.com/1184/why-did-retro-games-get-so-expensive   and this site has not been up for over 30 years so there is no way an average 1 year wait time for a cover.  I know its a hobby, its my hobby as well it just seems that ppl don't want to share or help. All I can do is ask/request right? so that's what I will do wait and just hope. Thanks

There are tens of thousands of retro games. The cover project has been around since mid-2000s and probably has around 80% or more of mainstream retro covers. I myself only work on covers a few times a years; during the summer (when school's out) or intersessions. At that, I usually only work on Genesis, Nintendo or Super Nintendo because those are the only systems I personally care about. I can't speak for other cover project members. I guess what I'm saying is that there's no way to force someone to work on your projects. And that an individual has to have some desire to take on a project.

The cover projects get's hundreds of requests every week. With only a few active members making covers, it's not numerically possible to full-fill every request made. At best, we can provide you with the tools to make your own covers. That's what this site is all about.

By low priority I meant that covers are not on to do/need list of any artist making the covers.
Retro covers are the main idea of the site.
It's just that currently people focus on NES, SNES, GB, N64 and Genesis mainly.

it just seems that ppl don't want to share or help.

We do share if we make them, and it's not want but that no cover artist currently has need nor time to make them, instead focusing covers that they need currently.

All I can do is ask/request right? so that's what I will do wait and just hope.

No, that's not all.
You can download Photoshop CS2 free from Adobe's site. Or use Gimp or Paint.net.
Making the covers is simple once you get the hang of it.
We gladly give pointers and help, and there are some guides on our site.

Thanks

You're welcome! ;D

EDIT:

And I just checked the raws you provided, and if you try to make cover out them yourself, you'll very fast notice why nobody has touched this request.
