Title: PS1 - NTSC-J - Policenauts - Custom DVD Case
Post by: Meaty Muffin on August 25, 2008, 12:03:35 AM
I would like to request a custom cover (horizontal PS logo would be preferable) for Policenauts.

These are the only original cover images I could find.

I see that someone has posted a Sega Saturn version of the cover, but I would prefer a Playstation version and made with the original case artwork that I linked in the first post. I would make one myself if I knew how, but if someone would please do this I would be very grateful.

Policenauts was never released outside of Japan (much to my disappointment as I love Snatchers). In JP it was released for the PS1, Saturn and 3DO

Well, if you feel like you can wait for a little while this English translation project for Policenauts has been going for almost six years.

They say that they are almost finished with the patch. When it's released you'll only need an .iso of the Playstation release to apply it to.

No problem.  :D Maybe when they get this patch out someone will be more willing to make a cover for me.

Oh well, it's worth the wait.

Ok. It's been quite a while since I've asked for this one, but now I have incentive.

Ta Da!

It only took them ten years!  ;D But yeah, I'm here to request this cover once again.

Nice!!!..

I'm looking into buying a copy already, they are less than $20.00 on e-bay..  I can DL a bootleg, but as a collector I can not condemn such action...

Policenauts English Language Version (NTSC/J)

More accurate legals and a few bits shuffled around. I kept it NTSC/J but its almost all in english. Not sure its valid to post here though and i was thinking about checking with the patch coders if i can get hold of them as it has there names credited on the back. I have the 3DO version which is all but unplayable without a grasp of Japanese (if only they had stuck with hellos, goodbyes and ordering food or asking directions, then i would have been ok  ;)) so i picked up a PS copy from the bay and am awaiting its arrival. Im pretty lucky in that i have an import capable PS allready that i still use to play my PS games instead of the PS2/PS3, so its ready to go. If anyone is interested (or did not allready know), a patch to convert Samurai Shodown RPG to english (Neo Geo CD) is being worked on too. Good luck to the guy doing that, i would love to play it, more so than this even.

Looks fantastic, Grumbleduke!

You know you never see results for a thread like this until something monumental happens with the game in question. It took eight years to translate, but it was worth every minute of wait.

Glad you like it. I hope to start playing when my copy arrives. It will get posted somewhere over the next couple of days.

How does the patch work exactly?  Is it the type where you tack it on to a save file and can play it on a retail version, or do you need to create a back up copy and hack it in?

You can also run it on the ePSXe emulator (I'm not sure if it was tested on anything else... PSP maybe...) if you don't have a modded system laying around, but I'd rather have a physical copy around myself. Having this game running on hardware kinda makes me glad that I picked up that PS mouse all those years ago...
