Title: Vectrex
Post by: Grumbleduke on June 05, 2008, 01:08:33 PM
We have a lot of consoles covered in one form or another here...but not this one. I have a number of carts for it that are sadly without packaging (or overlays) so i need to do something,if only for myself. There are problems, art is at a premium, original covers are pretty dull, overlays will not fit in a UGC,cart wont fit in a UGC without modifying, but UGC is the standard and its about all there is anyway so....

Scramble U.S

This is the one the templates built around. Its pretty authentic given the packaging size difference though.

Scramble E.U (W.I.P)

The template version i would use. Front is done, back is ongoing as i dont have access to it at the moment to get relevant data. Again its pretty accurate in its layout to the original.

As i said, i am going to be doing some for myself so its no hardship to upload for the site, and they may be usefull for some as i suspect a lot of the boxes disintergrated a long time ago.And its another console covered ;D. Suggestions/comments?

Looks good to me. I don't really know off hand what the original Vectrex game boxes looked like so I can't comment on authenticity, but nothing stands out as being in dire need of fixing as far as I can tell.

Thanks for the input. :) They are pretty much identicle to the original but smaller. Original cases came packed with a coloured screen overlay which is bigger than a UGC so thats got to be kept seperate. The euro version is not finished yet but will be by the weekend. There are not too many games either so doing all of them is feasable, with a few adjustments.

Well, it didn't take off in 2008, but maybe it was ahead of it's time? ;D

This post has died twice (Jun 2008 & Sep 2011) and is almost ready to die a third time (Feb 2013).

ya, you are right
apart 2600 no chance for other 8 bit consoles made in USA here. (5200) 7800 xe/xl Vectrex Colecovision Intellivision are just guests here. What a pity. And sorry if I posted more times to keep alive the scene here.

Do you wonder why this thread keeps dying? Its because you don't support Vectrex enthusiast. You've not given them an outlet. Ever heard the phrase, "If you build it, they will come?" Really, how big of a deal is it just to add a Vectrex section? @Badchad, @shenske, @sheep2001, @irvgotti452, @Arseen, @tiktektak, @kaiserWAVE, @Lumberjack42

If you've made covers, put them up somewhere and put them on the forums until a section is dedicated to it. Spread out showcasing your covers so it stays alive.

Holding onto them simply until a section is made is kinda foolish, in my opinion.

the only person who can add a section is the site owner, snowcone.  Unfortunately he doesn't visit very often, so it's unlikely he will add any new sections.  As oobgarm says,  upload your covers to mediafire, and link to them here to showcase them.

It is really unbelievable to see how the scene of the NEW GAMES for Intellivision, Colecovision and Vectrex are so active... and how desolating the scene of the covers for these consoles. Always dream the day guys like Grumbleduke will produce more for them.
I am 46 now and this dream is 6 y.o. now .....

Then you've had 6 whole years to practice making some covers for the community.  ;)
