Finally got around to getting some pictures of my collection. I’m planning on making a custom cabinet to house all of my systems, but for now this works. I have two TVs in the room. The 32” Sony Trinitron is used for any system with composite or S-video. The rest of the systems running component or HDMI run through the 44” Sony Bravia. All sound is through my 7.1 surround Sony A/V receiver. I’m using four switch boxes for my systems. One for Nintendo, one for Sega, one for Atari and Playstation 1 & 2, and one for all HDMI systems. All systems are using the best audio and video output possible without modding except for the Game Cube (I’m not made of money you know).
Most of my systems.

Sweet looking setup dude. I'm loving the Jaguar.
-
Awesome setup! I like how all your TCP cover spines are aligned almost perfectly with one another on the shelf. And nice to see the Atari Jaguar get some love.

Thanks for the comments.

Yes, I've been known to re-adjust my covers from time to time if they don't line up right. Fortunately, OCD seems to be welcome at this site.
I'm loving the Jaguar.
And nice to see the Atari Jaguar get some love.
The Jaguar is better than most people give it credit for. It did first person shooters really well when no other system could at the time. The controller is actually really comfortable for larger hands. It's too bad the game library wasn't a little bigger.
I thought you guys might like this since you are Jaguar fans. You can't see it in the picture, but I'm using a custom dust cover for the game slot since Atari didn't see fit to add one themselves. I'm using an empty game cart with the PCB removed. It covers the game slot completely and doesn't put any pressure on the pins since there is nothing inside it. It looks good and since it doesn't have a label on it, it's nice and clean. Since I have an extra copy of Wolfenstien 3D, I used to keep it sitting in the Jaguar (but not pushed in all the way). But I didn't like the look of a game always in the system. I think the blank cartridge looks better. Don't worry, I didn't ruin Wolfenstien 3D. I found a crappy $2 game that was already missing its label. I'll post a closer picture of it later tonight.

loving the collection man, looks excellent!
also, nice entertainment centre, reminds me of mine! ( must remember to update my collection thread! )

Thanks. Here's a close up of the entertainment center. I'm into Sony if you couldn't tell.

I finally decided to make a label for my dust cover.

Finally got around to creating a triple DS case for Guitar Hero On Tour.
I have the adapters for both the DS and DS Lite. The extra one fits nicely in the GBA slot while the game itself fits in the DS slot. The guitar grip attachment fits nicely in the other two cases.
I apologize for not crediting the author of the cover, but I can't remember who made it and I haven't been able to find it again in the forums..... :-[

Thanks.
Sheep hooked me up with most of those along with the Odyssey2 cases behind them whch you can't really see that well in the pictures.
I need to update my actual collection pictures as it is quite different now.
-
That guitar hero case looks really nice! I actually got a few of those games recently. I bought a boxed copy, but it's about a centimeter shorter than standard ds cases. Thanks for tempting my need for uniformity.

Well I still plan on making a custom cabinet to house all of my systems. However, I decided I don’t want to start building it until after I finish my basement. Luckily, I can across some new shelving for free from my work. I made some minor changes and got everything in place. A few of the systems aren’t hooked up yet, but I should get that wrapped up this weekend. Here’s some pictures.
Here’s an overall view. All systems running component or HDMI run through the 44” Sony. Everything else runs through the 32” Sony.

I love the stack o' AV equipment. It reminds me of the 90's. I had something super similar. It was all about having 80 pieces of equipment back then ;)

Thanks. I miss those days. ;)
But all of that equipment is still used, even the cassette deck. I need it to play Starpath Supercharger games. I also do a lot of VHS to DVD transfers for friends and family as I'm the only person I know who can do such things even though it's not the slightest bit difficult. Most people just aren't interested in keeping that kind of equipment. I actually need more room since I have a second CD jukebox in storage and I would like to add a Laser Disc player eventually. If I'm ever lucky enough to find a LaserActive or the original CD-i, they fit in the same types of openings.

That's sweet! We had this giant 100 disc changer at the one record store I worked for when I was a lot younger and it always just made me laugh. Like how on Earth are you supposed to keep track of that with some elaborate labeling system? (cue MP3 players...)

Right. ;)
This one is a 300 disc player, but luckily it has a port to plug a keyboard into so you can type out the names for each CD. It also recognized the text based CDs, but I have very few of those as those came out right about the time I stopped buying CDs. Unfortunately, my other 200 disc CD player does not offer any type of disc naming. :-[

Atari Lynx games don't stack up very well, so having everything cased up really helps.
Thanks to Sheep for hooking me up with the covers!!!

Nice! Do the carts snap in at all, or do they require some finesse to get cased up?
-
Nice! Do the carts snap in at all, or do they require some finesse to get cased up?
They snap in just fine without modification. They are a little difficult to get out, but the GB/GBC/GBA games that the case was designed for are also a little difficult to get out so it isn't a problem. I'll try to remember to post a picture of the inside later.
The only down side is that the manuals dont' fit....... and I have the manual for every game pictured. :-X
-
Finally got my PC Engine games cased up. Also includes one PC Engine CD game. That is the only game I own that I do not have a system for.

The uniformity looks excellent.

You've been busy ;D
LIKE!
-
Thanks all. ;D
I have been busy, but most of the work was done by other members since I'm using templates and artwork from already created covers. There are only 4 covers in that group that I did on my own (while still using the template), and those are definately the lowest quality of the group. But I'm still happy overall.

I was bored, so I took a quick inventory of my portable gaming systems. The sad thing is that Wiggy has more Game Boy Micros then I do portable systems. :P

I'm still working on my project to replace all of my covers with higher quality paper. Tonight I finally finished my Odyssey2 covers. While doing so, I took the time to revise the spine to a uniform custom look. Extra special thanks to Sheep for making these covers for me. They look awesome!!! ;D

Thanks. ;D
I was thinking about creating an Odyssey2 thread under the "Artists Corner" where I could link all of the covers to one easy location for anyone else looking for them. I'll give you full credit of course at the beginning of the topic. I just want to make sure you don't have a problem with that since these are really your covers. I'll include all of the covers that I'm aware of. I'm using 25 currently for my collection, but I have about another 8 or 9 that I know are also complete. That makes up about half of the library. Perhaps starting this thread will encourage others to contribute the missing scans.
If you don't want me doing that with your covers, I'll take the thread down. :D

cant find the thread where you were talking about Fairchild Channel F games going into UGC's, so i'll put this here.
Today was rainy and dull, and i have post holiday blues, so to take my mind off it, i have knocked this up so far
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v504/sheep2001/FCF%20TEMPLATE%20in%20progress_zpsgvyo9i5t.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/sheep2001/media/FCF%20TEMPLATE%20in%20progress_zpsgvyo9i5t.jpg.html)
do you have any boxes for your channel F games? Would be good to see what the rear/spine looks like retail. Also I had to redraw the little card people on the front of this one from scratch, and i'd rather not have to do that for all of them.
Any idea how many releases there were total?
-
That looks awesome from my phone. I'm out for now, but I'll take a closer Look when I get home. I have six games with the boxes to all six. I'll try to scan them sometime this weekend. There aren't a lot of games for the system. Something like 35, but I think you can check Wikipedia.
-
glad you approve (provisionally at least) - on my way out now myself, but if you could get at least one back scanned over the weekend so i can finish up the template would be much appreciated.
Also, let me know which numbers you have, and i'll get those done first.
-
Awesome ;D
And will do.

It's been a long day. I'v been taking my conceal and carry training today (an all day event) and I have another all day event of training tomorrow. But I live in Illinois, so what do you expect????
Anyway...... here are all of my Fairchild Channel F games. If there are ANY problems with the scans, please let me know. :D

I almost forgot to look this up. According to Wikipedia, there are 26 Videocarts for the Fairchild Channel F. Each one individually numbered (which makes it easy to keep track of ;) )
Of course, it's worth mentioning that Wikipedia is about as reliable as......... well Wikipedia. :P

Atari 5200 cases are complete.
All of these were hosted on the site. I love the style that I'm using here because it matches the Atari 2600 style, but in a different color that helps distinguish between the two. However, the covers hosted on the site have a light blue Atari logo on spine that I think is sort of hard to read when it blends in with the darker blue background. So I changed the logo to white. No offense to the original creators. Their work is still amazing. I also had to revise H.E.R.O into the style that I was using since it was only available as retail.
Atari 2600 is next.

Looking good. Which systems do you have left to tackle?
-
They look phenomenal, looks like I'll be adding an atari to my list. Those covers look awesome!
-
Thanks everyone! ;D
So what’s left?
Well there are some easy projects and some really difficult projects.
The easy projects are the following:
• SNES - There's a lot of these, so it might take a few nights, but I have all the covers I need. I'm going with the vertical custom spine style
• 32x - Same as SNES except not nearly as many. While I'm at it, I'm going to alter the spine slightly to remove the numbering at the bottom and alter Shadow Squadron's spine to match the others.
• Disc based games - The vast majority of my disc based games are CIB. But I still need to go through and find the ones that I've had to print covers for and make sure they are on the good quality paper.
• Fairchild Channel F - only need 4 of these...... hint, hint..... ;)
And now the more difficult projects:
• NES - I'm holding off on purpose because I'm still hoping for Shadowfox's cases. Since I salvaged some of my already modified cases for Atari 5200 and Fairchild, I now have several NES games sitting without cases at all. I don't want to print out anything until I know for sure what my covers are going to go into. I'm a little worried that we haven't heard from Shadowfox recently, but I still have faith that it will happen.
• Master System - Honestly I haven't decided what I'm going to do with these. Currently they are all in original Sega cases. For the few Master System games that were not CIB, I was able to take one of my Genesis cases for it. However, now my collection has grown and I have more SMS games then I do original Sega cases. I'm considering putting them into UGCs, and that's probably what I'll do. The other problem is that SMS games are not very uniform on the spine, so it will require a lot of work to get them to match. I did it for Genesis, so I guess I can do it with SMS too.
• 3DO - This project will be quite an undertaking for me. Other members gave me the idea. Sheep did this with this Atari games (I think) and Bear did this with his NES games. My plan is to take the clear box protectors for 3DO games and make custom inserts that fit inside. In other words, I'm going to try to make custom long boxes for my 3DO games and keep them in the box protectors. I'll keep the games that have original long boxes in those boxes. I'm hoping that my custom boxes will look good sitting next to original boxes. This will be a difficult project for me, which is why it will probably be last.
-
Master System, I have a complete US cover set done by coelho1980, that i THINK has uniform spines (large grid), would have to check. I'd hold out for shadowfox Sega clams for these if i were you, I think they look much better in a black clam than UGC, but your call obviously. ;)
Fairchild - just fired up photoshop to have a go at the next one.
3do - as I've done the box protector thing for my 2600 games, I don't mind helping with a uniform template you can drop the front/back artwork into. Would need some input as to what style you were after.
Not so difficult after all eh? lol ;D

I've considered this as well. That's part of the reason why I'm pushing SMS off until the end. Sega cases and UGS are very similar in size, but the covers are just different enough that I can't print them out until I know for sure which size I need. I am like you in that I prefer the look of the black Sega case. But I also realy don't want to have to wait and wait for the cases to get made. I can't decide now, but I figure I don't have to decide until I get my other projects finished first.

Awesome!! ;D

I still have to give this some thought as well. I know it might sound weird coming from me, but for some reason I might want to go with a retail look on the 3DO boxes. I know I'm typically more of a uniform spine kind of guy, but for some reason I just really like the 3DO boxes. Plus if I go with retail, I only have to make the boxes for the games that I don't have long boxes for (about half my collection). Then again, I might change my mind and go for some type of uniform style and create a box for every game. Decisions, decisions (and first world problems ;)) Thanks for your offer to help. I appreciate it. :D
-
Very impressive looking.
-
You could always put your boxed 3do games inside the box protector, along with a custom spine to match the others. ;)
-
Oh, I almost forgot. I also have the Atari Starpath Supercharger games to case up. I have about 5 or 6 plus the Supercharger itself.
Those are the cassette tape based games for the Atari 2600. Fortunately I have boxes for almost all of them. Even though the cassette tapes are small, I’m still thinking about using UGCs. I'll probably try to go with the same format as the Atari 2600, but with some type of unique identifier.
One way of looking at it is that the Atari Starpath Supercharger is to the Atari 2600 as the Nintendo e-Reader is to the Game Boy Advance.
I need to get those boxes scanned. 8)

Fairchild Channel F games are now cased up. Thanks again to Sheep for making these awesome covers. This makes me want to add to my collection. 8)

Thanks. Yes, that's mine from last season. I'm not a big hunter, but I enjoy deer season. This guy had been around. Part of his antler had been broken off (as seen in the picture) and he had some big hoof marks on his back like he had been in a fight. He was a pretty good size too. We still have deer sausage in the freezer.
I sometimes play those Deer Hunter games, but not too often. I'm not a big fan of the current gun shooters that require a cross hair. You aren't really aiming with those games. :-X But they can be fun for short spurts.
-
congrats. Nice looking rack. I also like to hunt sometimes but also fish.
i know what you mean about the crosshairs. I just play them for an hour or so. not bad for quick entertainment.
logging off now for a nap. later ...

Yep, nice rack! I'm getting ready for deer season down here, myself. My family loves venison. My kids prefer venison burgers over beef burgers and the steaks and jerky are awesome.

Had a fun
Memorial Labor Day weekend. Found a saddleback caterpillar. Never seen anything like it before. It stung my wife's uncle. He had shooting pains up his hand for a few hours. :-\

I guess that's where the name comes from. :P
This thing was on my seat of my ATV after a ride through some heavy brush. He was about six inches away from my back for who knows how long. I didn't even see him until I got back to the cabin. I couldn't believe what it was. Strangest looking thing I've ever seen.

This was one of the gifts my son got this year. My wife really wanted to get him a play kitchen for Christmas and those things cost a fortune. I got the idea off facebook and picked up the original entertainment center for $20. There was a little more money put into it to get the final product, but it was also a lot of fun doing all of the work (approximately six full days worth of work including sanding the original finish and painting the final product).

Yeah, I can post them later tonight. The Master System cover just came from a Google search. There were several out there, so if you try that, you might find one you like better then the one I used.
I created the N64 cover by using Wiggy's N64 template and pulling EverDrive 64 artwork off of another member's cover from the site. That's why you couldn't find that one.
I'll post them tonight when I'm back on my personal computer.

Well I finally finished casing all of my games. All covers that were originally printed on copy paper have been replaced with high quality matte or semi-gloss paper. All of the games with missing covers have been created either by generous members here or by myself. Thanks to everyone who helped contribute to this. Thanks to Shadowfox whose cases are being used for my GB, GBC, GBA, Game Gear, Lynx, Neo Geo Pocket Color, NES and Master System (yeah I know it's weird that I'm still using UGC for Genesis, but oh well :P).

No, those aren't Wii U cases. I found a website that sells blue DVD cases. They are a slightly different color from the Wii U cases, so they would not be very good Wii U replacements, but they are a perfect match for the shade of blue that is used in the Sega CD covers.

Are the 32x CD cases the yellow or orange from that same site?
The ones I have in the pictures are yellow, but they are not a perfect match. Since I only need a few of them, I'll probably order some of the orange next time to see if they are a better match. I must not have seen the orange when I put my order in because I'm pretty sure I would have ordered that if I saw it. But I can't guarantee that the orange would look any better. Either way, I think it looks a lot better than a standard black DVD case.

;D all the best, gutting, and un-gutting is as dire as it sounds.
i'm chipping away at my kitchen wall next few days, i fucked up good-style >:( and didn't use enough damp proof course injection material for the outer masonry, and damp has permeated into the plaster, the inside.
mould hasn't cropped up yet, but it won't when i'm through. (knock all plaster off and redo after damp proofing is done and set.)
it'll be at least a week before the drum arrives and the injection gear.
this sucks... ???
at least it'll be over soon. :D

Yeah, I haven't ordered those exact colors, but I've been very happy with the cases I've ordered there as well.
With ONE exception: If you order black DVD cases, make sure you get the "premium." The standard black DVD cases are junk with a very thin sleeve and a horrible smell.

Well, this took a lot longer than I would have liked. My brother in law bought a house in the middle of this project and we did some major renovations there, so I was over there helping him for about 2 months. During that time, I didn't even set foot in my bathroom. But we finally got his house finished and I got to get back to finishing my own projects. I'm ready for a break.

I made some new shelves a few weeks ago. This shelf now holds all Sony games except for PS1. I don't look forward to the day that I buy a PS2 game that starts with the letter A.

If your basement is like mine, I would recommend feets to prevent the wood to rot!
The best ones I've seen were from IKEA, with adjustable height. Rocks uneven concrete.

I have the exact same blue cases for the couple sega CD ones I have, never even thought about the orange ones tho. I did get some red ones, not see through, for the Virtual boy games too. I like the color coding of cases, adds that extra pop, looks good man

Thanks.

I also bought the European version of Terraria. :D I just had to have a physical version.
-
For which console? It's available in the US on a disc for EVERY current gen console.

My version isn't European or physical.
I have the US version with no disc. It came with a download code on card and a USB thumb drive in the shape of a pickaxe. I only bought it because it was on clearance at Target

Oh ok. I didn't even know that existed. Interesting.

Well, I started working on my Wii U kiosk. I've replaced the lock with a new one that I have a key for. I've removed the controller wires that were cut by GameStop (but I still kept them) and I installed a new TV. This TV has the same outer dimensions as the original, but it's a much larger screen due to the lack of the bezel. The nice thing about using this TV over the original monitor is that it will be easier to hook up other devices to use the setup as a normal TV in my garage.
I received my Raspberry Pi this week and got it setup. I have't loaded all of the games I want yet, but I have enough to be able to enjoy it.
Next step will be to cover the area below the TV that is open due to the missing bezel. I plan to cover it with a board with some speakers that will be powered by a small amp that I will hide in the cabinet.
The last step will be to make my custom Raspberry Pi case out of an old Nintendo Wii U that I acquired. The Wii U is broken beyond repair, so I will gut it and use the case to house my Raspberry Pi. I'm hoping to incorporate the USB ports, HDMI ports and other connections with the Pi itself.
It's been a fun project so far. Looking forward to the finished product.

I know it is a long shot, but would you happen to have the plans for those shelves?

I know it is a long shot, but would you happen to have the plans for those shelves?
No. I tend to do everything in my head. There was nothing to it though. Everything was a 1x6. The frame of the shelf was assembled with pocket holes. I put a 1/8" sheet of plywood on the back and I used a router to put a rabbet into the boards so that you don't see the plywood from the side, and used brad nails to secure it to the frame. I also had to rip off 1/8" of each shelf to account for the rabbet in the frame of the shelf. The nice thing about that 1/8" is that it makes the shelves the same depth of a DVD sized case, so when the rest up against the back, they sit right at the edge of the shelf. I also used a shelf pin jig to drill the holes for the shelf pins. I drilled the holes in a way that I could adjust the shelves to any size case if I ever put something different on it. I don't know the dimensions of the shelf, but the width was specific to the size of the area it was going in. The height was calculated so that the shelves could hold DVDs evenly from top to bottom. Everything was done with cheap whiteboard because I didn't plan to finish it since my basement isn't finished. If I ever have a finished basement, I will rebuild proper shelves out of higher quality wood with a proper stain on it.
***EDIT***
The bottom shelf is a 1x8, not a 1x6.

I got the dog house moved to it's spot outside and finished the landscaping around it. The shadow from the house made it difficult to get a good picture. My dog slept in it for about an hour, but he still seems to prefer sleeping in the dirt. I think the dirt is a little cooler right now, but I'm hoping he will prefer the dog house when the temperatures start to drop.

In a thread on another forum, someone was asking about our college gaming experiences. In the discussion I posted this picture I found of my gaming setup from college so I figured I would share it here as well. This really takes me back.
The NES, SNES, N64 and PS2 are mine. The Xbox and GameCube belonged to my roommates.

I wish I knew how to build things. I'm horrible at woodworking. I'd be able to build it only if it was a precut, predrilled kit.

Blockbuster rentals take me back. We had a similar thing to the bottle caps. We kept our empty liquor bottles as trophies of our drunken debauchery. We had a SNES, N64, Xbox, and PS2 but we were Halo junkies back then when xbox live was still new and incredible. Good times.

My roommates were into Halo, but I never got into it.
The bottle cap project was fun. It took a while to glue all of those on. That was another conversation starter at parties.
I can't even begin to imagine the hours spent in this room playing Mario Kart 64.

Thanks.
The basement is still unfinished. The carpet was a clearance piece that was available at the carpet store for cheap. I bought it for the kids because I setup a large play area for them in the basement, and playing on a cold concrete floor isn't very fun. When I finish the basement, I will put down some type of engineered flooring. The kind that snaps together and is water proof. Every year I keep saying I'm going to finish the basement, and each year something else comes up. This year, my in-laws bought a new place that needs a lot of work, and I will be over there most weekends fixing stuff, so my basement is off until next year at the earliest.

You have never dropped a UGC on hardwood.
I would gladly have carpet to try to protect cases and games from accidental drop damage.

Funny you mention that. While moving everything around, I did end up dropping one game. It was a PS1 game and while the cover popped off, nothing broke including the hinges. I couldn't believe it. I don't even have a pad under the carpet.
Arseen, if it makes you feel any better, in the upper part of my house, there is no carpet at all. The house is 100% hardwood except for the two bathrooms which both have tile floors.

New shelves look great man! You should leave the ceiling exposed, paint it all black, then run some LED lights up in there.

The "hatered" of mine towards carpet floors is 2 fold:
1: I used to be very allergic but my doctor mother pretty much cured me with exposing me to my worst allergenes (yet traumas of long shag carpet remain).
I was very allegic towards dogs and cats, so what she does?
Buys 3 dogs and 4 cats to keep inside.
My room is upstairs and somewhat isolated from the downstairs where the animals were, so I could get to "safety".
She also bought strong astma pipes.
Little by little I spend more and more time with the animals and within 2 months I could tolerate them quite well and 6 months later all was as cured as it will ever be.
Nowadays all is fine as long as the animals don't sleep on my pillow for long (I don't let them in to my room but occasionally they sneak in).
This has also cured my other allergies (Horses and pollem of hay, few other grasses & pirch).
2: I'm LAZY and could never bother to keep the carpet clean.
The kind that snaps together and is water proof.
Many of those aren't waterproof but actually warp easily if you clean them with more than damp cloth.

I know the feeling.
My gameroom, bedroom extension and/or new house are still on the to do list... ::)

Actually I haven't, or haven't dropped from high enough for damage.
But I give the carpets that protection point.

Our house is old school with hardwood floors as well but they are in quite serious need of sanding after us 10 kids + 6 of next generation driving with tractors and such.
PRO TIP: If you start getting splinters from the floor Elmer clue or such is good first aid.
Our bathrooms also have tiled floors and walls, as does kitchen.
-

Correct. But many ARE waterproof. I just installed this type of flooring in my in-laws this past weekend and I love it. I sort of wish this type of flooring was more common or well known when we renovated our home back when we bought it (I know it existed back then, but the general consensus was still "iffy"). I probably sounds weird, but I would rather have the engineered flooring over the hardwood that I have now. I don't hate my hardwood, but it's one of the few things we did to the house that I'm not 100% happy with today.
-

I've considered that very idea. I think black exposed basement ceilings look great, especially if you have offset them with white trim. It's certainly cheaper than a drop ceiling, and I refuse to drywall my basement ceiling because I want to have access. The only problem with painting it black is that it's a lot of work. If you spray, you have all sorts of prep work and cleanup. If you roll/brush it, it will take forever. Regardless, I'm still considering it.

After 8 years in this house, I finally decided to pull the trigger on finishing the basement. I'm doing it myself and due to time and budget restraints, I'm going to split it into multiple phases which might end up taking a couple of years. Still though, I'm excited to finally start getting this complete.

Thanks. Unfortunately, even doing the work yourself, it's still a lot of money to finish the basement. I think it will be worth it on the long run. Not so much for home value, but in home enjoyment.

I've heard that High Stakes and Porsche Unleashed were called NFS4 and NFS5 in other areas, but I've never seen them.
Also V-Rally 2 has a strange story. On PS1 it was branded as Need for Speed, but on Dreamcast, it was branded as Test Drive. That's funny to me because NFS and TD were some of the biggest arcade racers at the time competing against each other, and they ended up putting their names on the same game (although released for different systems).

Sorry to hear that mate. I know how hard it is. You game him (And he you) a great 15 years!

I've known for a while that we were close to the end and I prepared myself for it, but it's different when it finally happens.

I finished a new project this past weekend. The old fireplace was unusable and would have needed a tremendous amount of time and money to rebuild, and we didn't plan to using for wood burning much anyway. This way looks better (in my opinion) and will be much more functionable for the way we will use it.

It depends on how you define "fake." It's an electric fireplace and it generates heat. The flames are not real. They are generated by a bunch of LEDs and several mirrors on a rod that spins causing the flame effect. The nice thing about it is that you can use the flame effect without heat. If you enjoy the look of the flame, you can run it in the summer time and leave the heat off.
More traditional people might baulk at the electric fireplace, but the wood burning fireplace we had before could not be used safely due to a multitude of issues from the previous owner and builder. It would have required a complete tear down and rebuild from the ground up and I wasn't interested in doing that. Plus that work would have been outside the scope of my abilities, and I was able to handle this project myself without any issues. Overall, it was surprisingly easy. Installing ledgestone was a lot easier than installing porcelain tile and I went into it expecting the opposite.

Also, I meant to post this last week, but I hit a milestone recently in the PS1 collection.
I surpassed 800 total PS1 games (including variants and imports). I also surpassed 700 unique US titles (out of the set of 1,284).

And for kicks, here is a edited version of a pick from a while back showing my entire Sony collection from about 10 years ago.

I'm happy to scan anything that is requested, but due to time constraints, I'm probably past the idea of scanning everything that I own. It's actually worse with PS1 since for any given game there are usually at least 3 different scans to take.

Wow! So are there are lot of high dollar titles remaining still? Or do you have those mostly covered?
-
Wow! So are there are lot of high dollar titles remaining still? Or do you have those mostly covered?
A few weeks ago I went through the US list to see what was still missing. Out of the approximately 580 games missing, about 1/3 are sports titles, 1/3 are non-sports commons, and 1/3 are higher end games. When I say "higher end" games, I don't necessarily mean super expensive. Many in that group are around $15 to $20, but unfortunately, there are also several fairly expensive games that I'm still missing. As a general rule of thumb, I prefer to look for the more expensive stuff fist and save the cheap commons for last, but at the same time, if I can grab commons from lots, or find them for a buck a piece or less, I will always grab them.
I'm not sure how realistic getting a full set really is. Prices seem to keep climbing and fewer and fewer games are appearing in "the wild." But I still enjoy it and I will still continue to look for deals even if it take me another 10 years of looking. I still collect for other consoles as well, but outside of PS4 or Switch, it's pretty rare for me to buy anything else right now. I still haven't jumped to the PS5 gen yet, and I don't see myself doing that anytime soon.
-
When going for a set, I do the exact same. I find it hard to convince myself to by expensive items at the ragged end.
-
PS1 games look great man! I'm pretty much going for a full Genesis (cart, no Outback Joey) set at this point even thought I don't want to admin it :p It's a lot of fun!

New game room update. This has been a long time in the making and it's still a work in progress. I've been slowly finishing my basement over the past two years and I'm at a point where I can start setting my game room up again. I'm currently working on building my custom furniture to hold my consoles and A/V equipment. What's pictured here holds my Nintendo, Sony and Analogue consoles. The next step will be a second console shelf that will hold the rest of my consoles including Sega, Atari, NEC, SNK, Microsoft and everything else. I will update with more pictures once everything is done.

I would love to know move about the console stand in the pictures. What materials did you use? Any build progress pictures of it?
Sorry, no build pictures. I usually take pics along the way, but for some reason I didn't with this project.
Everything was built with 3/4" plywood (which really hurts the wallet right now). The trim pieces are either 1x2 or 1x4. Everything is pine to keep the cost somewhat down, however, the pine is all "select" rather than the crappy build quality stuff. The shelves have laminate strips glued to the front so you don't see the plywood edges. Also, the top piece is multiple 1x4's glued together so I could route the chamfer around the edge without worrying about seeing the plywood edge. The shelves are all adjustable and the holes for the shelf pins were drilled using a shelf dowel jig. Everything sits on heavy duty casters to make them easy to move around and to keep the wood from making contact with the ground.
-
Also, the final piece of the project is about half way complete. This will be the shelf that will hold the rest of the gaming consoles and will sit on the far left against the wall perpendicular to everything seen above. I'm hoping to have it done in a week or two depending on free time in the evenings. I'll post updates when it's complete.
-
Last shelf is done. I'm just working on getting everything hooked up. Getting everything hooked up is about as much work as building the shelving.
