Cover Thread For SEGA Covers
Sega Gamegear, Sega Genesis, Sega 32X
I haven't printed off any Sega covers for any of my games i have. (besides dreamcast)
I wanted my Sega covers to have a uniform look so i decided to make my own template.
So far the template includes these 3 consoles but could be more if people want it.
This Template was intended to be a Game Gear Template but i decided to add 32X & Genesis.
Sega Game Gear
Surprisingly the height & width ratio of the UGC matches the Game Gear box perfectly.
I know there are gamegear covers being made for the DS case but the manual doesn't even come close to fitting.

I think they look awesome. I think the original Game Gear one looks way better than the pink one, although it matches the others well. Did you ever think of doing a Master System one too?

I really like what you did with the Sonic 2 cover, it looks 100% like an offiicial cover. I just can't say enough good things about it. So, I'll stick with what I said: Beautiful. Simply put.
I think all Genesis scans shoud be edited with your template. Because, every Genesis scan on this website seems to have the red label off color. Some are even bright pink, like how the Sonic 3 spine cover on this site was before you fixed it. I look forward to using these covers, as well as seeing a Sonic 1 cover... :HINT: :HINT:

i must have missed your post, if you want a reformatted cover just let me know and i'll see what i can do.
i've tried to work with the sonic 1 cover, but its totally out of proportion. it might have to be custom.

You could just try using the Euro Cover instead. Just Edit it to look American:

ummm... i don't really know what the megadrive template was like, i'm american.
i'm recreating the covers to fit in the red template so its uniform with the game gear & sega 32X.

Darn. That is...I just...why are you using your skills to make game cases? You could EASILY get a job doing things like this! I'm just at a loss to explain how awesome that looks!
You sir, have talent. I'm very thankful to know that your not just making these cases for yourself, but for others. It's...it's...in Sonic's own words "Way past cool!". It reminds me alot of the Sonic 1 Master System box art, only much cooler as the background has a neat 3D feel, somthing that alot of the Japanese Sonic art had,which is good. Very good.
All we need now is to fix up the Sonic and Knuckles, Sonic Spinball, Sonic 3D Blast and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine and the entire Genesis Sonic Colection will be complete!

Again. Wonderful. I'm not to shure about the yellow Sonic logo, though. It looks to much like the Sonic 3 logo. But this is just minor, considering the original was red or blue, somthing that just wouldn't fit with a red Genesis label. Once more, this is just minor and in no means should you change it.

i'm currently working on sonic & knuckles and i'll finish up the rest if the sonic games probably on sunday.
deffinately do scan in "mean bean machine" and i'll make a cover of that too
(300dpi or 600dpi and if possible use the derasterize option)
as far as the logo goes, i probably will end up using the logo from your link.
i made that cover prior to searching through that wonderful Sonic sight you linked me to.
i really appreciate it that you like my covers so much, it means a lot :)

Looks great. Maybe I could make a request now that there is a Mega Drive template. Could you make a cover for Universal Soldier? It's the only MD game I don't have a cover for, but since people don't know that this game is basically a port of Turrican 2 form the Amiga with just slight changes here and there nobody gives a damn :) You could use the DVD artwork form the movie. Should be easy to find. And if you feel like it, you could make the cover fit an original MD case as I don't have any UGCs.

do you know what the deminsions are of a normal genesis cover?
i don't have any of my genesis game with me and won't for about another month.

Yeah like the movie :) Maybe that's why nobody cares because everyone thinks it's a crappy movie-to-game-adaption of a B-movie while it's actually a port of a great game, which was renamed and slightly altered for marketing purposes.
I don't know the measurements, and if I did it would be in cm rather than inch or even pixel. I can easily wait a month, the game is not going anywhere and it's been without cover for about 5 years now.

As always, excelent work. I'd praise you some more, but I'm a bit tired right now. So, heres some things that I'd change.
Your Ristars cases are wonderful, but they both have the same screen shots in the back. It should have screen shots taken from thier own game.
I like the Spinball change, but then I don't. The Robotnik in the original looked better, but I do like having a option on witch Robotnik I can choose. I'd suggest doing two cases: One with the Genesis Robotnik, and one with Game Gear Robotnik.
Everything else is wonderful. Keep up the good work!

i was planning on fixing the screenshots for the GG version of Ristar, i just wanted to show a preview before class started.
I really do like the "cartoon series version" of Robotnik i used.
I like the look, its a nice clean image and had no front logo (so i could put it anywhere).
i'll see what i can do with the original GEN artwork as an alternate front.

hey shenske, i have a couple of genesis raws that i've cleaned up somewhat, but if you want i can upload them for you to use. i would try to finish them up and submit them myself, but my skills do not match yours and you'd make them look the way they should. let me know if you want me to upload them, and if you do i'll upload them hopefully sometime this week.

One question shenske.... Why is your PAL style Mega Drive Version of the Street Fighter 2 cover labeled as NTSC US version.... Mega Drive and US can't be.... It's just wrong in some way.....

Also, it says "Sega Genesis" on the back, instead of Mega Drive. You could try maybe use part of Grumbleduke's official retail PAL back. I'd also like to see a US version using the PAL front cover.

i just looked over your scan, is it really that washed out?
it does look like you did use the decreen function it just looks ... ehh ... fuzzy and washed out.

Blue or black doesn't really matter. I have both styles in my collection so either would be fine, I don't prefer one.

Did a little work cos' i fancied a challenge! ;) They are in PAL format with a few differences to normal. They are not multi language as the only options would be online translation which is not great for this type of thing OR we get peeps here to translate for us. English and German would be covered but other languages might be a problem. Taking that into consideration,the back is currently layed out as on the original all-english text of the Accolade box.They are also in MD Case format. If you like one, let me know and i will upload it. There is also Shenske's version so you have multiple choices.

I'd like the first one with the orange background.
I don't have a preference as to classic black or new blue for the template since I have both in my collection. But maybe you could get in touch with Shenske about adding the blue version to your template if it's not already in there. Just for options.

Oh, and there IS a way for it to go on our site. A while ago Snowcone added the option "Genesis" to the case drop-down menu on the admin panel. So, if you label your covers as being a Genesis-case or Megadrive-case cover, we can add it to the site.

we already have this cover on the site but its a little rough. Visable tears, creases, discoloration, the spine is off etc. So i thought i'd fix it up a little more (placed into my template Version 2 - which isn't on the site yet. still a W.I.P.). Here goes ...

You know when checked on the qualityside they were all really good no question.... The problem I had with them was that they had EU multi-language backs and US fronts and where labeled as CA.... I didn't really know what to do with them.... We got the fronts on other covers and the backs on other covers as well.... I really didn't understand the point in mixing up two regions and hosting it under another region....

The only cover we actually have on this site is Altered Beast. We do not, in any form, have the Tazmania cover nor do we have anything but the JAP version of Castle of Illusion. Also, the covers are based off the actual Canadian covers ( http://www.thecoverproject.net/uploads/raw/Hexxxer.retail.raw_genesis_taz_ca.jpg scanned by me) but this should not even be a deciding factor as they were uploaded as custom covers as they used a template.

Hmmm.... Has been a while ago so I can't exactly remember the details... If you would upload them again I can check through them again and tell you what's wrong if there is.... Maybe it was just my mistake because I had to do many covers and so tend to decide fast if Yes or No.... Sorry....
I didn't know that CA covers use the same backs as EU covers.... Does anyone in CA speak german? ;D

I did some 32x covers too.... They were all soooo much work because those boxes are all in pretty bad shape.... I dunno why but it seems 32x boxes are pretty easily crushed and scratched....

Again these covers were as much work as 5 Mega Drvie covers.... I suppose I should look for better boxes when buying 32X games in the future....

Whoops ! Well spotted. As for the cart, its not quite the same as ythe MS version. Has a few cuts (the music selection screen for one) but its still Outrun.
