Post by: user9000 on March 25, 2008, 06:57:22 PM
I love the new cover artwork.

If someone could scan the slipcover too that would be great.

Thanks

Bought this, but you'll have to wait until it ships to my house. In addition, my scanner has been acting up so you may not get scans from me at all. :( If my scanner does end up working, walmart.com says it'll be at my house towards the end of the week. (I'm guessing Thursday-Saturday)

Never played any of the MGS games and I'm so excited for such a cheap reprint. Looks like such an awesome series.

can't wait untill you scan all of these in!

i'll hold off from upping my revised ps1 template untill then so i can get the correct deminsions for the vertical style.

also, the Meatl Gear Solid games are awesome. the first is the best in my opinion.

My scanner is working again, so I can almost guarantee that if I'm not too busy playing MGS I can upload scans. Would you prefer 600dpi shenske? (I know I would)

I saw an updated? version of the sleeve and it appears that "PlayStation" is actually vertical on the MGS1 cover, like in a standard US PS1 CD case. I hope I'm wrong and it's horizontal like "PlayStation 2".

Nope, vertical like the original PS1 CD cases. In related news, I was hoping it would be shipped here today, but looks like I'll have to wait until at least tomorrow. And it damn well better be here tomorrow. I can't wait until Monday. It's simply not possible. :)

Yeah, that's what I figured. I was hoping that the first game would look like the first box in this picture:

it looks like sony had some confusion on what style to use.   :)

i can convert the vertical style official release cover to the horizantal style when its scanned.

that way everyone is happy  ;D

I think they should have also used the current MGS logo for consistency.

Both links you posted are the same. Neither one is the outer cardboard sleeve and both are actually only 96dpi, not 300 or 600.

by link i think you mean pictures, they are just preview pictures untill doom scans in the real ones.

no one is using those for making a cover, they are way to small  :)

Sheesh. I wasn't trying to be mean. He could've just rescanned them! Anyway, what he posted was two of the same thing. One he labeled as 300dpi and the other as 600dpi. They were both scans of the Metal Gear Solid 1 PS1 DVD cover from the set. Neither was a scan of the outer box. I actually downloaded both (and still have them) to check em out when I noticed they were 96dpi. I do appreciate the scans, just higher quality would have been nice. This is what he posted (for reference):

At least we know what it looks like now.

Two PS1 CDs. This has been confirmed all over the place. My set still isn't here, but the mail hasn't come yet. Here's hoping.

Here it is two weeks after I ordered it and it's still not here. At least Walmart.com has the balls to say it's delayed in transit, but it still says I should have it by four days ago at the latest. HULK SMASH!

Just go to Walmart and buy it, save your receipt, and when you finally do get it return it to the store.  They'll take anything back, especially if its not opened.  I know my Walmart has a ton of them in stock.

If it gets to the point where I'm tired of brawl and it still isn't here I will do just that.

Nice job. Might wanna post in your own PS1 thread, too.
Are you going to do it in the horizontal style too? (so we don't do the same cover)

bleh that's what I meant. Having never played MGS, this set is awesome. I love MGS1 so far. Kinda mad I spoiled so much of the game because I thought I would never play MGS. Dammit. All of the cool tricks ruined. Oh well.

I love the version with the new logo style. I also love how you didn't keep the generic back. Don't know if I like the "2 disc" logo on the front. Maybe it should be on the back, along with a compact disc logo?

Or what about using part of the retail back cover (just the bottom), kinda like this:

Keep in mind that I just threw the back all together and is just meant as a rough idea at this stage.

I'd also like to see a matching set with parts 2 and 3 from the set with the new logo on the first one, of course.

They should match, but shenske made his covers before I uploaded raws of MGS2 and 3.

Also I will make the retail MGS1 cover and upload it. (with the back that "matches" the other two games, you'll notice if you look at the raws of all 3 games)

Most likely I will make the retail MGS2 and MGS3 covers too, like I said I would. But then again, Ketaros is a damn fine cover artist and he has quite a nifty template...

Two hours into MGS1 and loving every second. Except when I get spotted. I suck really bad. I'm playing it on easy. ;D
When I go back through it to get the other unlockables, I'll try it on normal...
