Title: non-gaming collections and toys
Post by: FritzWhite on November 27, 2013, 10:55:15 PM
I'd be curious to know what other people collect or get into for fun when they're not gaming. I like bikes and I have some other toys like a few comics and stuff. I like cool books with lots of pictures and information about history, places too.

Cars, bikes, motorcycles, jet skis, guns, surfing, whatever your non-gaming passion is, share it here!

Some of my toys:

I have a TON of Vinyl and some Beatles memorabilia.
Most of my was free, I got someones entire collection after almost buying it, and it taking a long tome, I got it for free.  ;D
around 6-7 crates of albums, good ones too. Zeppelin, Floyd, Kiss, Black Sabbath, Dio, Ect.
I also got some from my mom, and various tag sales and a few from Goodwill. I tend to ignore albums in GW, always a lot of crap to find one good album if any, but I lucked out a few times.
I got Sgt Peppers Lonely Heats Club Band (complete), Abbey Road, a Beatles Greatest Hits album, and the White Album with a home made sleeve for $1 each. I was checking out, buying some Gamecube games and saw the corner of Abbey Road in a cart full of stuff yet to be put out.
I also got Elvis's first album for $1. Normally fairly rare and pricy.
I do not many albums anymore, mostly looking for Beatles, Zeppelin and Floyd. The last one I bought was The Rutles soundtrack.
I may down size a bit, I also need to catalog them all.

I have some Beatles things, 2 3D posters (Yellow Sub, Abbey Road), a Sgt Pepper Blanket, Rockband instruments, 1Tunes cards, And almost a complete set of Yellow Sub figures (Sadly missing series 1 John and George, the two currently passed away).

Cool bikes Fritz. I'd actually like to be a bike collector, but I have no money for that now. I collect comic books, trading cards, vinyl records (mostly 80's new wave and post-punk), and NECA action figures.

I used to/still collect heavy metal/hardcore CDs. My most expensive is probably After The Burial - Forging a Future Self. That goes for roughly $300.

I've got about 500 CDs all up, it's a shame they don't hold their value like most games though. I've been steering my spending to games more now though.

Other than that, I guess tools are something that I "collect".  Not so much collect as acquire and use, but all of my workspaces are starting to look like tool collections :P

I guess you could say I collect paintball stuff, because I hardly ever play so its more of a collection than anything lol. Here's just what I have on the wall.

Other than that, I collect vinyls, but I just started not too long ago so my collection is embarrassing. Plus my very, very small amount of money goes Games > Paintball > Vinyl.

I dont consider my movies or music a collection because I just buy what i like....Im quite a bit more anal about my game stuff.

But I do have a decent amount of movies (probably around 500+)

I own the Marvel Runaway series in Hardcover Trade and almost all the standard comics. Because of the Runaways I also get the Avengers Arena comics.

The only thing I have a LOT of is Lego. I could probably fill a 55 gallon trash barrel or larger with them.

I guess you could say I collect paintball stuff, because I hardly ever play so its more of a collection than anything lol.

I got that going on too....played 1 time for 10 min. I have 2 98s, a pro carbine 4 masks, spare barrels, tanks, gloves a vest 2 neck guards. Cant recall when I used them last aside from shooting at a skunk.

Apart from games I guess only thing I really currently collect is weight. ;)

Wish I could send you some of mine....I dont want it and the trade value is horrid.

Other than games, I collect;  Muppet stuff (especially Fraggle Rock), vintage erotica (not smutty porn, but tasteful nude photographs and paintings from pre-1950s), Bigfoot/Sasquatch things, some DVDs and CDs (ONLY buy what I like in those and routinely thin the collection by selling/donating a handful or so every six month - if I haven't at least thought about listen to or watching it in a year, it's gone).  Oh, and vintage books.  I actually turned three quarters of my closet into a small library...

Nope not a Dan. I'm just outside of STL, in Granite City. There was a "STL Retro Gaming" group / page on facebook that was kind of active for a while but I don't think anyone uses it anymore.
