Title: September 2013 pickups - Yours truly TTT
Post by: tiktektak on September 01, 2013, 01:10:30 PM
Finally I get to start a pickup thread!

Picked this baby up today! My collection grows slowly. Wasn't cheap though but still a good deal imo! ->

Then some stuff I picked up fairly cheap locally from a board member and on my weekly thrift store ride (I really get much more there then on flea markets in my area):

Finally a complete copy of Zelda. Not in the best shape but I have a very nice manual lying around which will replace the beat up one. The map is foild....?

You wouldn't believe what you can find in austrian second hand stores. A very good condition copy of US Aerobiz....

Is the German SNES Zelda in English or in German?
Just aasking as I'm thinking shall I buy just the German manual or also the cart.

@palmer I will have three now. I originally purchased a small tablet - as the name suggests, it is small. I just purchased the large tablet. My mom likes it and she wanted one, so I gave the small to her. I got the large and now my Wife wants one, so I will order the medium. Now I have all three sizes. LOL.
I've always been angry at the mouse. I cannot draw with a mouse. I've wanted one of these tablets for years now. I finally got one. Now I have to adjust to tablet/monitor vs pencil/paper. Sketchbook is best with these tablets. I am getting better at using it. I hope that you can get one, Palmer. I will be happy for you.  :)

@wiggy lol. Intuos2 is indeed outdated. However, the artist makes the tool work well not the other way around. I'm sure that you still enjoy it. Maybe you will upgrade someday and we can exchange notes. I'm new to the whole pen tablet world. Any tips that you can offer will be more than welcome  :)

Was over on the north side of Houston and went to one of my favorite game stores and picked up these. Aladdin was 4.99, Tournament Fighters was 19.99, Mario is Missing was 12 and Power Rangers was free. I think this might be it for this month, because last month I went over budget on my pick ups and my wife was none too pleased :)

Picked these up this morning.

3 more off my snes list.

$50 for all 3.

Not bad considering what the snes battleoads games go for these days.

I don't normally go for boxed games but the seller did not want to sell just the uniracers cart.

The German version of A Link To The Past is in German. So are all the other RPGs that officially made their way to Europe. Secret Of Mana, Secret Of Evermore, Mystic Quest Legend etc. They all were localized.

You need it. I already have it in the US version so it's not mandatory to keep it for me. A good old TCP pal can have it for what I bought it plus shipping. ;)

Local craigslist find.  I've seen the ad being posted for the last couple months and always thought to myself that I should just jump on it.  But I kept hesitating and putting it aside.  Well, after going to the local flea market and seeing a guy sell a dreamcast for 35 I couldn't help but think of the craigslist ad.  I passed on the flea market guy and just waited for the ad to hopefully pop back up.  Well...the next day there it was, so I decided that it was time to just jump on it.  I got all of that for 40 bucks.  Granted it's a lot dirtier then I thought but the guy said that 2 systems work and the 3rd (dirtiest) doesn't.  If I had gotten to it sooner though I could've gotten the keyboard and fishing pole lol but for the price I can't complain.

Now...just to see how hard it would be to fix it :/ and possibly resell 1 and give the other to my girlfriend or something.

Yeah it's quite a good little unit actually, no way to transplant into a real shell though. The clone is actually a little larger than the original.

Alright

I got The Last Story on Wii with the Art book (Dunno if this version had the sound track), $5

Mario Is Missing on DOS, I dunno if it was played at all, mainly because the stack of floppies (Both 5 1/4 and 3 1/2 inch varieties)  have not been opened. I dunno if it has on or off disc copy protection, so I dunno if it is complete. $1

GBA SP 101 model, $5.

Pokemon Gold (Replaced the Battery) $5

Lol, it just happens to be one of the only 4 Atari carts I own.
I happened to be testing the mod with it when I took the picture.

Also. Atari games do not like to be viewed on a 72in 1080p LCD. =P

ET is bad, but it's not THAT bad when you actually know what you are doing.  Dull and repetative yes, but i have played worse.  It gets a bad rep, because without the instructions it's impossible to work out what to do, and most people have only ever picked it up as cart only.

Robotrek is in PRISTINE condition. Soul Blazer is mint. The manuals have folded corners but are in awesome condition otherwise.

Found those in my local gameshop, they had a 20% sale on all games and I bought those 2. Nothing else interested me.

The collection grows but the wallet feels empty now :) I'll have to try and trade some of my doubles to get more awesome games!

Another local craigslist find.

Halo special edition Xbox with wires
4 controllers (one wireless but I believe that it's missing the wireless receiver?)

8 games but mostly sports except Halo, Halo 2 and Call of Duty 2

Needs to be cleaned, especially the controllers but everything worked perfect.

All this for just $25 bucks and a 5 minute drive to the next town over :)

Lol yeah I know...after I saw the ad and it had "rare" in the title I started to think the price was mislabeled.  Especially after seeing them on ebay sell just the system for 50+.  But the lady just seemed like she wanted to get rid of it quick simce it was taking up space.

But now I can play my Gunvalkyrie...the only xbox game I bought is one of the few games that isnt compatible with the 360 :/

THANK YOU FOR REMINDING ME I NEED TO GET MY ASS DOWN TO THE SHOP AND PICK UP MY COPY. I DON'T KNOW IF YOU CAN TELL BUT I AM VERY EXCITED.

Edit: Got mine as well! I was surprised at the height of the case, and the fact that the art book IS the game case. That's interesting. If I had to guess why, maybe it would be to discourage those people who buy Limited Editions only to sell all of the tchotchkes and essentially get a "free game" after the fact (not saying it's not a valid strategy, but considering how certain Japanese developers seem to take certain things personally, I wouldn't be surprised). But as a Kingdom Hearts fan, I really like it. My only regret is that it looks hardcore out-of-place next to all my other PS3 games due to the height.

Something new for a change. I managed to get quite a few original boxes for my loose games and printed out a few custom ones while I was at it (you can probably point them out). Plus some more looses (Mega Man 1 & Shatterhand 15 € a piece), a rare copy of Gunstar Heroes, smallbox games and almost a mint-condition copy of Link to the past, just missing a manual.

That's a very nice haul; many of those games are in my personal collection as well (though certainly not in-box, sadly). I'm a bit jelly.

I'm also surprised to see that TMNT2 for NES featured silvery sidebars on the front graphic for PAL release. I mean, I knew it was a Konami release (despite the poor attempt at rebranding as "Ultra Games" to get around Nintendo mandates), but I've never seen a copy that looked so much like a Castlevania game on the outside. Interesting.

been a while since i did one of these. last pics i have are from february and it's been a slow year, so let's skip ahead to july:
game, the british retailer that went bankrupt last year, still exist under new owners in sweden and they've just started carrying retro stuff. kinda pricey, but for pal-b releases with japanese illustrations (just look at kung fu and kid icarus) it's nice to be able to get a closer look at them before you order. i guess they didn't go with these sweet kitchy pics on us & uk carts because someone complained that it wasn't representative of the actual gameplay or something like that. also devil summoner 1&2 were reprinted, which was nice of atlus since the first one was reaching rule of rose levels of expensive. breath of fire 3&4 also from game, and i always liked the idea of the rosen queen co. edition of sakura wars with the bonus official undub disc.

august:
everyone loves yoshi's island but i missed out on the snes library back when. gonna play this and mario world sometime. new super luigi u is a weird retail release i had to get and wonderful 101 is up once i'm done with rome ii.

september (wip):
idgaf about paper boxes but dynasty warriors advance was cheap and factory sealed (don't want to keep anything sealed on the shelf tho, that just sets a REALLY bad precedent) and i just tried the rom out and liked it. operation winback is supposed to have been an inspiration source for resident evil 4's mechanics, and someone here mentioned megaman x command mission the other day so i went and picked up the last copy in stock from a net retailer for about $15. NTSC-U/C ver is supposed to have progressive scan tho but i'll live with this.

Well, last week was my 21st birthday... I got quite a few games as gifts. I also got piles of gift cards for GameStop and Half-Price Books, and both were having sales right after my birthday - 20% off everything at HPB, and a 3 for 10$ deal at GS. The end result of this is that I have obtained a quite frankly almost embarassing amount of stuff last week.

Sorry for the glare on the DS games. They are Assassin's Creed: Altair's chronicles and AC2: Discovery, Wario Master of Disguise, Scurge: Hive, Modern Warfare Mobilized and FF Crystal Chronicles Ring of Fates.

It's really not always like that. ;) I have to invest very many hours of freetime to get some good hauls. Today I missed out on a great deal sadly. A Mega Drvie with hookups and 30 complete games for 60 Euro. Was the second one who called. Oh well. no Sunset Riders, Ghouls n Ghosts, Rocket Knight Adv., Time Killers, etc. for me.

By the way sheep. Already got your game?

No - not arrived yet :(  Postal service is notoriously slow though - and have only had 2 things not arrive in over 2 and a half years - and one of those from eBay i suspect was never sent, so call it 1 package not arrive.

I just wish there was somewhere over here where i could get bargains - i miss the car boot sales of the UK.  We do have Vide Greniers here (loft emptying sale) - but its usually moldy old clothes, skis from the 1960's and bits of farm machinery.  Occasionally you will get a kid trying to sell crappy DS games for 10 euro a pop, and I once found a stack of Gamecube games for next to nothing,  but it's just not worth the time investment usually.  When i moved here, i thought i was going to be getting my hands on all the lovely RGB consoles for cheap - but it just hasn't happened yet.

Sorry to hear that sheep. I would still suggest to never give up though! :) I also go on flea markets every weekend in summer/spring and only get a real good deal maybe twice or trice a year.

Hope your game arrives soon. Was sent on Sept. the 6th.

By the way. Pickups from todays retro-fair here in austria! Was very nice with many cool guys, arcade-cabs to try and so much retro stuff. The price level was really insane though as many retailers were there. The best deals were to be had from privat sellers as always. Still got a pretty nice haul for little money.

So I am really proud that I didn't pay more than 15 Euro for anything. Except for Battletoads which cost me 17,50. ;)

Don't know if any others do, but my radio shack is having a clearance sale, they have soldering kits (like DIY programmer, DIY USB experiment interface board, DIY FM radio, etc) way cheap. Might be worth checking.

I got all of the different kits. Programmer kit for $9.99 instead of $59.99, FM radio kit - $4.95 instead of 29.99, etc

Finished the radio and programmer. Can't use the programmer since I don't have a serial port, but all the lights come on and appears to function, and I'm listening to the radio now, lol. Since they were so cheap thought Id practice my soldering and try out my new SMD Rework Station

EGG Elemental Gimmick Gear

($25 from Amazon)

Panzer Dragoon Orta
Mario Strikers
Space Channel 5 (w/ holographic cover)
Bust a Move 4

($23 from a stubborn vendor at the flea market)

Xbox HD DVD drive

($5...originally wanted $15 but as I was walking away he asked for my offer...I lowballed $5 since there was no plug and hd dvd is a dead media and he accepted.  He just didn't want to pack it back up and take it home lol)  Now the power plug will cost more then the drive itself :\

Not pictured but also snagged an Xbox High Definition AV Pack for the original Xbox.  Found it in a bin of a mess of cables and wires for $5.  Now I can play my original xbox games in HD lol

Although I don't have pictures I thought I'd list some purchases I made. Things are a bit more expensive in Australia, but I thought they were good deals.

For $60
Pokemon Red Version CIB
Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen

For $75:
Final Fantasy X-2 Walkthrough
Final Fantasy XII Walkthrough Hardcover Edition
Final Fantasy XIII-2 Walkthrough Hardcover Edition
Two Assassin's Creed Walkthroughs Hardcover Editions

I looked up one of the hardcover's for AC and it was going for 100 bucks.

For $150 Dollars
2x Nintendo DSi Consoles
1x Nintendo DS Lite Console

+ 50 Games with boxes and manuals,.

As well as some other random purchases:

$22 bucks - CoD 4, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Gran Turismo 5

$12 each - Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, Dragon Quest 9

$18 - Dragon Quest VI

Considering some of the prices out here, I thought these were pretty sweet :D

That is a excellent condition on that box, hopefully it gets sent in a box. I've had too many CIB games sent by ebay sellers that were crushed in bubble mailers. Seems like a pretty cool guy too since most sellers flip out if you don't leave positive feedback.

I sent a message to the seller right after I bought it asking for it to be sent in one. I had it happen a long time ago with GBC Donkey Kong Country. The seller is a store that sells a lot of games, so hopefully he knows better.
He seems nice enough to legitimate negative comments, and seems to have good customer service if a mistake is made. Seems a bit rude to some others. That comment came of to me a bit sarcastic.
"Good" "We are glad you had such a neutral experience. Thanks for no negative?"

Finally got around to taking some photos off my phone. Here's just some of my swag from PAX Prime:

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v32/ninja_dude/TCP/0905132300c_zpsd69ba0bf.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/ninja_dude/media/TCP/0905132300c_zpsd69ba0bf.jpg.html)

Plus this giant ass MTG card that I sold on eBay:

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v32/ninja_dude/TCP/0901132107_zps2006ec78.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/ninja_dude/media/TCP/0901132107_zps2006ec78.jpg.html)

Shit i forgot you went.  could have hung out at my apartment and played some games.  Oh well.  Its wierd here in Seattle after PAX is over.  I work a block away from the convention center so i see all the people and what not, get alot of 3ds hits.  After its is just so quiet after 60,000 people are in town.  Anyway you got alot more than I did!!!  (If you dont want the Cards Against Humanity packs from the swag bag ill gladly take em!!LOL)

I don't usually bother to post my pick up because its just too much work and I'm always getting new stuff, but this is just too good not to share. Picked this bad boy up yesterday for $450. A Neo Geo MVS 4-Slot Cabinet fully loaded with 4 games! Only one of which is actually displayed in the marquees inside.

(http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p191/BaddyChaddy/000_0005_zps5f7234c8.jpg) (http://s128.photobucket.com/user/BaddyChaddy/media/000_0005_zps5f7234c8.jpg.html)

So my girlfriend has a Horse and every month or so, she competes in a local competition against other locals and this all happens at a place called "B & H Ranch". I've been there a few time when she's competed or just to watch. Anyway, this Sunday it happened to be raining so a portion of the competition was done in the indoor arena, which happens to have a little spectator box / rec room and I had never been up there. So I make it to the top of the stairs, turn around, and see this powered on in the corner. I had to have it! Asked the owner of the Ranch what they wanted for it and worked out a deal. $450 worked for me! I gotta say, I probably rescued this poor thing from an eventual demise. This thing was pretty damn dirty with barn dust all over, and that shit gets in everything! Stripped it apart the best and could and cleaned the hell out of it. Surprisingly, aside from the usual cosmetic damage like dents and scuffs, overall this thing is in good shape and everything work great accept for these:

(http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p191/BaddyChaddy/000_0006_zps1ef75486.jpg) (http://s128.photobucket.com/user/BaddyChaddy/media/000_0006_zps1ef75486.jpg.html)

I haven't really had a chance to look into it but the marquee lights don't seem to be working. And I'm guessing these things wont easily replaced if their burn out. Worst comes to worst, I can always install a fluorescent tube light. Super stoked to start collecting MVS carts!

Totally jelly.

Those marquee lights look like they're made of EL film. If so, they won't be terribly hard to replace, but they give off so little light that I'd seriously consider other options.

Very very nice pick up for a good price! Has the screen burn-ins? That is the worst thing most of the time.

By the way coincidently I will be getting my firts candy cab also in four weeks. A New Astro city! Finally!!!!

I went back to the pawn shop, and I grabbed me a copy of Super Mario Galaxy 2, and it came with the Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack CD.

Also They have several Wii Us, they have the 8 gig basic model for $150, marked down to $70...just to get rid of it. I'll be heading back tomorrow to put a down payment on it (25% of the price), and seeing if I can take it home. If not, I'll have a Wii U on tuesday...that is if it has what it needs.

Think I may have found a place on the Neo Geo forums where I can get a set of 4 new panels for about $75. Apparently their better than the originals. Looks easy peezy to replace too. Might just go for that.

Nope, no burn-ins! I was actually pretty impressed with the crispness of the monitor in this thing. Dame near pixel perfect!

Now I just need to find a place to get cardboard boxes that match the ones these the carts originally came in. I'd like to pick up a few a bunch, and then just scan my cart labels, reprint and stick on the boxes. And voila, a retail reproduction box! Then my next step would be to build a mini shelf tower to hold my collection that looks like the MVS cabinet with perfect slots for the boxes to sit next to the MVS. I fucking love this thing! ;)

neo-mini boxes?, don't know how close they are to the original though, also there is a place where you can download the cart labels, that's what i do if i need to replace any.

The Legends of Zelda Wii U Box set...aaaand one of the worst games of all time, Link: The Faces of Evil.  Because I hate myself and feel like going insane trying to play it.

Wii U was $299 with the Windwaker download included and digital Hyrule Historia.
Faces of Evil was $35 from some random guy.  I was at a local game store and this guy was trying to trade in this game, but they either wouldn't do it, or wouldn't give him what he wanted.  So I followed him out and offered him $25. we negotiated to $35

Yeah, the game disk has a few scratches, nothing too major.  But he didn't have a CD-i and couldn't verify if it worked.  He said that he used to, and the game played the last time he checked.  Normally I don't trust untested stuff, but it looked like standard wear and tear, and for $35 I was willing to risk it.  And yes, it does work.  Sadly.

Gotta say. even tho I already own Hyrule Hystoria, Nintendo is getting pretty fucking lame with digital content rather than physical...

Went to the Oklahoma Video Game Expo yesterday... Fun times. Mostly tables of people selling stuff but also some arcade machines on free play, some old systems/computers running games... One table ran a tournament of a certain repro site's "16-bit Xmas 2012" cart, which I came second in. Also the OneUps were there playing music. Aaaand I bought this stuff:

NES - Strider $3 (replaces current poor-condition copy, which I'll trade in)
NES - Little Nemo the Dream Master $4
NES - The Flintstones: The Rescue of Dino & Hoppy $7
NES - Ninja Gaiden III The Ancient Ship of Doom $22 (talked down a little near the end of the expo; label's a but rough at the bottom, though)
NES - Heavy Barrel (with box) $8
N64 - Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire $3 (replaces current poor-condition copy, which I'll trade in)
GBC - Dragon Warrior III $10

Wii - Sonic & The Secret Rings $2 (random grab-bag; already have it so will trade in)
DC - Crazy Taxi $3
PS1 - Parasite Eve $15
PS1 - Vagrant Story $20
PS1 - Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete $40

Lunar 2 doesn't have the outer box, Omake Box and its contents (map, pendant, etc), or soundtrack, but it does have the game discs (of course) and making of disc. Complete in name only.

PS2 - Taiko Drum Master (game and controller) $30

And finally the more misc stuff...

Cool Megaman shirt $15
Six OneUps CDs (the white one's a double-pack), with signatures on the double-pack $47

UPDATE: And in the short time since I posted that, I met someone off Craigslist and bought more stuff.

Altered Beast
Boogerman
Garfield - Caught in the Act
ESWAT
Exile
Power Rangers
Shining in the Darkness
And a six-button controller

For $65.

Power Rangers is cart-only and Garfield is missing the manual, everything else is complete.

Lol, if it's one thing I hate about the gamepad is that fingerprint smudges are shown way too easily :\

Local flea market pick up from a single table.  Everything was nasty dirty so I spent some time to clean everything up.

2x figure 8 power cords
2x Dreamcast controllers
1x VMU (scratched screen, no cap)
1x Dreamcast controller extension cord

The guy is a reseller but his prices aren't outrageous like some others I've seen...he's pretty fair.  That being said he let me take all of that for $15

Not video games, but picked it up purposely to test out the xbox 360 hd-dvd player.  3 movies for $5 from another table at the flea market.

Larry, those dongles should work fine once you sync them to the guitars, but if you run into problems, try to hunt down the silvery-looking dongles to replace them with.

I heard something about RB1 dongles not working with RB2/Beatles Instruments, and I think both are guitar, and I need a drum set dongle.

Google-fu confirms your suspicions. I swear I've gotten them to sync up before, but based on the amount of contrary evidence I've found, you'll be wanting the silvery (RB2) dongles instead.

Some one Local was selling a bunch of NES stuff. Picked these up for $15
When I get there I went threw some of their other games and found the FF Map :D So I framed that.
They also threw in a few SNES games for free. Nothing great, best being Mario World.

Anyone interested in a copy of Little Samson (complete, NTSC)?
Their price is a bit steep, but if there's a real collector around here:

http://infinitygames.nl/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=2156

It's not me who's selling, This one popped up on one of my 'retrosites'.
I'm pretty sure that if anyone's seriously interested they'll drop the price a bit :)

Took that Sonic & The Secret Rings along with my old copies of Strider and Star Wars Shadows of the Empire into my local shop.

They offered me $15 in credit for them (pretty good since I paid $8 for the Sonic and the better carts), and here's what I got...

XBox - Splinter Cell (Need this to mod my XBox) $1
N64 - Star Wars Rogue Squadron $5 (Three for $10 deal) $3.33
N64 - Body Harvest $5 (Three for $10 deal) $3.33
PS3 - Infamous $5 (Three for $10 deal) $3.34

And most importantly:

NES - Jetsons: Cogswell Caper $30

Admittedly, the label's in kind of rough shape on the top edge, but $30 for a game that goes for at least $70 online... Not gonna pass up.

It wasn't a slip-up, mind you, the guy who runs the store knew what it was worth, but he cut me a deal because the label being a little rough and because I'm in there every week. Loyalty pays off.

Finally got a Wii U Deluxe set with two Pro controllers and a Wiimote.
waiting for Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze and SM 3D World.
I haven't purchased a Nintendo system since the N64.
I like it. I ot Nintendo Land with mine instead of Zelda.
I have to get used to all of this newer technology.

I was mad because the cd-drive bay wouldn't open. LOL
I've learned that you just slip the disc into the slot. Doh!

anyway, good stuff. I can't wait to add more games.
I prefer Nintendo. I do not like XBox and Sony is mostly shooter games.

will show pics later ...
also, I'm still working on some covers and will upload soon ...

I never had a GameCube either. A friend of mine has GameCube, although he is a major SEGA fan, I played some games and I like Luigis Mansion, Star Wars Bounty Hunter and Tomb Raider Legend (but the last two are also PlayStation games.) I need to get a GameCube too  :)

okay, here is a pic of the box:

I played Nintendo Land with my Wife. We laughed at the robot character Monita. I was impressed with the GamePad. The GamePad is a touch screen too. I like how tilting the GamePad acts as a viewer and how it is in sync with the tv screen. cool stuff.

I am happy to be up-to-date now. I will enjoy playing the Wii U.
I can't wait for the new games to come out. I want the DK game, SM 3D World, Luigi game and the Duck Tales remastered game.

I also bought a Wiimote, two Pro controllers and a headset.

e-brugal, I hope that you get the GameCube and the Wii U too  ;D
please share pics and stories when you do get the systems.

I have not had a chance to play any games on my WiiU yet, but I've had a bit of fun in the Miis and Miivurse. I had a small internet connectivity problem I solved by moving the router.
I so far love the Wii U, I just with there were more games that utilized the gamepad.

Why did you not get the Zelda Bundle? Not a Zelda fan?

Hello, Larry, I understand that the Zelda is a download only game. I hate that stuff. I want only physical copies of games. I think that downloads should be used for backup purposes. I have a 2TB and  a 3TB external drive, so it's not about space to me.

I do not dislike Zelda. I am a fan of this genre but sometimes Zelda games have stupid parts to them and I am burned out with it. I tried Twighlight Princess and the graphics are awesome and the beginning of the game looks promising, then you get to the herding part. I never played beyond that part. I hate the herding concept. Earthworm Jim 3D made me hate the herding in video games. lol. I like exploration more than shooting and fighting. I will eventually get Zelda anyway because my Wife is a fan of Zelda. lol.

bottom line: download vs physical copy
I wanted something with my Wii U that has a box and a disc. Nintendo Land was only one available without travelling.

Speaking of GamePads
I'm trying to ask around to see if Donkey Kong Country Returns works on a Wii U.
I have not purchased a Nintendo system since N64 and I am growing frustrated about the controller aspect of the Wii systems. wtf? I understand that not all games are playable with the GamePad, yes? some may require a Wiimote or something called Nunchuck and Classic? I am confused. I wonder what Nintendo is thinking here.

My first thoughts about the GamePad - I thought that two players could play Madden footbal and not be able to see each others play menus. how cool. Then, I imagined all of the possibilities with other games. But apparently, noone else is daydreaming and many games are not even playable on this GamePad. very frustrating. I hope that this changes in the future. Game Developers need to be aware of Wii U gamers and start producing. XBox and Playstation are not the only systems in town. I want to use the GamePad with all of my games. Star Wars Bounty Hunter would be awesome with this pad, yes?

This one is right now next to his older and younger bothers (Nes, N64, Wii) and his cousin (PS 1) remember that there was an asociation (nintendo with sony) to make a CD console and when they break up Playstation came out, so they are cousins :P, lol

Nice buy e_brugal  ;D I love the SNES. I still play it. Donkey Kong Country 1,2,3 are my favorite games.

I used to have a PS one but someone stole it from me; my sister and her husband. I never got it back because I couldn't prove it. I did not have a receipt and Police can not do anything. Think about that for a minute. SAVE YOUR RECEIPTS,. Otherwise, it's a civil matter. Anyway, Twisted Metal series is my favorite on the PS1. I still have the games. I play the cds in my pc with epsxe. Incidentally, I now save receipts for everything. If I buy a roll of toilet paper, I save the receipt. my TP, get your own. LOL.

I am happy for you, e_brugal. I can't wait for you to get a Wii U and a GamePad. We can exchange notes and stories.

You have a nice collection. I am happy for you  :)

I agree with you in that part of having the physical disc, prefer having them in box next to me.

About the Wiimote and Nunchuck, it's fun to play with them in the Wii, so when you get them you'll see, love to play Zelda with them  ;D

You really do have a nice collection. Thanks for sharing pics.

I also bought a Wiimote today because I understand that it is needed to play DKC Returns and I want to buy that game. I will tell you how it goes when I get it working. I am tired now and I will go to bed soon. I have some things to do today but I will try the Wiimote later in the evening.

Ja, I like physical copies of games too. I will get Zelda on October 4 when the package version is released.

I call her my Ex-sister now. I hate her. She is evil. My other sister told me that her husband was wearing my jacket too, so they must've stolen more than a PS1.

Anyway, I am over the loss of the PS1 but I'll never forgive her for the thievery. Damn Bi-atch.  :)

I bought a PS2 and Twisted Metal Black and it helped me forget the PS1. Maybe I will get another PS1 but I am happy using epsxe and my discs for now.

okay, I go to bed now e_brugal.
Good night and happy gaming  ;D

Recent Ebay pickup

I wasn't really looking to add another Dreamcast to my collection but this lot was too good to pass up

As you can all see it's a boxed Dreamcast, Boxed Controller, 2x Boxed Rumble pack, 2x Boxed Starfire gun (2nd gun is laying down behind the visible one), the 4 games and a Dreamcast carry case

Everything is used, but the condition of the whole lot was nearly perfect.  The console looked like it was barely used

The case was the one thing that really got my attention...because all of this was inside!

Gameshark, boxed VMU, 2x controller extension cable, multi-system av/svideo cable, ps2 av cable, battery for the vmu still packaged with a "best by" date of 2008 and the main item that I wanted, a vga box for the dreamcast!

I had considered doing the vga mod, but I have no soldering skills, and while my cousin does...I was still reluctant to let him do it.

Ok... So... I lately haven't been posting my pickups because there isn't really anything special about them. Just common odd and end stuff.

BUT

This I gotta post. So as lightning McQueen would say...

KA-CHOW!!!!

v------- This is a crappy video!

(http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f199/andypalmer/th_88B82735-B5B4-4E50-99AF-5A4C44DAB521-2198-0000010DBDE1E400_zpsecc16a61.jpg) (http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f199/andypalmer/88B82735-B5B4-4E50-99AF-5A4C44DAB521-2198-0000010DBDE1E400_zpsecc16a61.mp4)

Now just to throw this out there. I took the video before Sky Shark was working, it had some problems I had to fix. They are both a little rough still and need major cleaning. But I wanted to make sure they worked first. There is a loooooooooot of fixing up to do. (As you could prolly hear from the Arkanoid control knob.)

I will not say how much I got them for, but I will say this. EXTREMELY CHEAP! Not free though...

Like a few other members of the site I picked up the Zelda Wii U bundle with my store credit from BullMoose....Blumpkin may know of the store.

I also snagged a Pro controller, Iron Man 3 BD/DVD, Suikoden Tactics hint book, GoW III Hard Cover hint book, KH: 3D Hint Book and some random movies and pre-ordered the Zelda Guide box set and various other things from the same place with said credit as well.

I do! But good deals are hard to find at their stores, at least for me. I think they made the minimum price for N64 titles $7.96 this summer. That's right, damn near $8 for effing sports games. Terrible.

DKCR uses the Wiimote sideways, like an NES controller. Any controller requirements are on the back of the box.
The different Wii U controllers are:
Game Pad (http://nintendoeverything.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Wii-U-GamePad.jpg)
Pro Controller (http://blogs-images.forbes.com/erikkain/files/2012/06/Wii-U-Pro-Controller1.jpg)
Wiimote Plus (Upright or Sideways) (http://www.thetanooki.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Wii-Remote-Plus-640x342.jpg)
Wiimore Plus With Nunchuck (http://nintendookie.files.wordpress.com/2010/09/wiimote-nunchuck.jpg)
Wiimote with Classic Controller (not to sure if any U game uses this) (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f2/Wii_05.jpg)
The Gamecube controller is no longer supported, due to lack of a port.

The main ones you should have are: Game Pad, Wiimote Plus, and a Nunchuck. The others are extra options.
All Wii U games should use the Gamepad as a Player 1 controller. Wiimotes are for other players, but in some cases be used for P1, like NSMBU.
The Pro controller mostly relapses the Classic and Gamecube controllers for Wii U games.
I think the Game Pad and Pro controlers are unsupported by Wii mode. The classic controller is good for Wii games, like Brawl, Xenoblade, and others.

It is a bit of a clusterf@ck, but I like all the options.

Hello, Larry,
Thank You for the quick introduction to the controllers. Good stuff. I am new to the Wii world. I do see the controller options listed on the back. I only have one game right now - Nintendo Land. I have to wait to purchase the upcoming releases and I need to make time to browse current games. Anyway, I did buy the Wiimote Plus, so that is good. I will buy Donkey Kong Country Returns and catch up with the gaming world. I haven't played newer games since Twisted Metal Black. lol.  I'm way behind.

I am happy to have a Wii U now. I do hope that developers make all games compatible with the new GamePad. I like this new GamePad; very cool.

I agree about the clusterbag. yikes! way too many options to suit me. I remember discussing this subject in marketing and advertising course. Studies have shown that too many options is bad business. I agree. I sense a scam with so many options. I feel like Nintendo and developers are trying to squeeze more money from our wallets. I guess I'm old fashioned or just old. I like one controller with many games. oh well. I will just buy games that work with the GamePad or Wiimote Plus. I'm not very good at playing certain games anyway. Actually, I stink at most games. LOL. I am very good at sports and puzzles and car combat. Somewhat good at role playing games.

I am thinking about entering the Game Development industry. I like Star Wars Bounty Hunter idea but not the actual game. Many parts of the game are awful - in my opinion. I want to start with a similar style game but drop all of the bad stuff while adding new stuff.

okay, I am done rambling.  :)

Was looking for the Special Edition of GTA 5 (Ps3) online but it was sold out everywhere, but on the release day I just stumbled on a last copy at my local Target and I barely go to aTarget. They also had Ni No Kuni for $20 so I picked that up as well. Got a GTA 5 poster as well for free. Also got the Ni NO Kuni hardcover guide for $10 of a website called the Book Depository with free shipping a few months ago so now I can put it to use.

Pretty much going to be occupied with these two games along with Beyond: Two Souls and Dark Souls II, then I need to decide whether to get a PS4 or Wii U. Also I want to pick up Chrono Trigger for the ps1 that comes along with FFIV, I heard a friend who played that version and the loading times aren't bad at all. I really don't want to spend $60+ for the SNES cart or a opt for a download.

The load times for the ps1 version of chrono are pretty bad if you grew up with the snes version.  Unlike what most say, the game is still very playable.

I'd reccomend the DS version as it's the physical version that gives the best bang for your buck at this point.  If course if you don't have a DS then it's not reapply worth getting for just one game but the system has a great library.

I'd lik,e to have 16 of those in black... but I think I'll go the cheaper way of 16 SNES Ascii pads + SNES -> NGC -controller adapters.

Got 1 set already, works perfectly.

I think I have 8 Ascii pads, so 8 more pads + 15 adapters.

Also still needing 16 official GBA link cables (+ 8 cubes)... those who know me know for what it is.

Actuakly those are pretty.common and possible to get for anormal price. what I've been looking for for ages for a normal price is obe of those sexy Hori N64 controllers. Those are expensive and hard to come by.

Picked up this one:

Pretty rare find I believe. I've seen them go for prices I wasn't willing to pay.
Got lucky :)

You're going to play Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for the gamecube with gamecube controllers instead of GBAs?
I've seen a video of that a long time ago, he hooked up 4 tvs to one another and used a whole load of cables, but it worked o.O

That too but it doesn't require 16 game boy pads... nor GBA/GBA link cables.

whats the status on that Arseen?

GameCubes: 8
Game Boy Players: 8
GBA-GBA -link cables: 0
SNES Ascii pads: 8
SNES -> NGC controller adapters: 1
(NGC pads: 16, incase I don't have enough Ascii pad+adapter combos)
GB Faceball 2000: 14 (might have 16)
TVs: 2 (but can easily borrow the missing ones).

On the other project, 16 player Mario Kart Double Dash using 8 GameCubes:
I HAVE EVERYTHING I NEED FOR IT.

Why 8 game cube for 16 players if the GC comes with 4 controllers, it shouldn't be 4 GC for 16 players?

8 Gamecubes, 2 players per cart (8 carts is maximum) = no splitscreen. ;)

Picked this up to connect my dreamcast to the tv via hdmi.  My tv does have a vga port in the back, but the placement of the tv on my stand blocks use of the port due to there not being enough space for the cable connector to fit :(  But so far it's working well, no complaints.

Also picked up a bunch of dreamcast games that i'll put up later...and one pricey game that I spent more then I thought I'd ever spend on a 10+ year old game

Spent $15 on the 5 game items and $40 on the Oakley Antix (perfect condition).

3 Wii games are complete+perfect condition. GBA SP is in perfect condition, but missing charger. Spyro is scratched and missing the manual, but it plays.

Barbie game for my Wife $19.99
 :)
Yikes. You sure its not for you? Only games I have gotten my wife in the past are:
Princess Peach, Dreamfall, NHL, Mini Ninjas, All available LEGO games and Guitar Hero/Rock Band Games. She wouldn't be caught dead playing a Barbie one.
Though, she hasn't been able to play anything in over a year....we have a child....he consumes time like Cookie monster consumes cookies.

Went out to a few garage sales this morning.
Spent $15 on the 5 game items and $40 on the Oakley Antix (perfect condition).

Nice grabs on the game stuff. The Mario games alone are worth that. I guess the SP could be worth double what you paid....it surprises me that they are that pricey online when I see many of us getting them at yard sales and such for next to nothing.

LOL okay, I admit it: I'm a closet Barbie fan  :)  let's keep this info confidential  ;D
Actually, I do like playing the Barbie games. I like the two games published for PS2 - Island Princess and 12 Dancing Princesses. LOL
My Wife and I are members of Barbie Collector and I just purchased four Barbie dolls from the site. LOL
I like the new movies that they are making and I just purchased four of them. I will buy the whole collection. Yikes!

speaking of Dreamfall, I remember the first game, The Longest Journey, I own it. I bought it for $10 at Walmart along with the first CSI game. I am a fan of anything Family. I still watch cartoons. LOL I'm a softy, yes.

cookie monster Baby LOL
I understand what you are saying. Children are number one in the household. I hope to have many with my Wife and I think that our game playing days will be over.  :)
But think about this: as they grow older, you can teach them how to play games and show them all of the games that they've missed out on. Lots of fun.

Congrats to you and your Wife. I hope that you and your family are healthy and happy.
Maybe we can convince your Wife to start playing Barbie games too  :)

By barbies I assume you mean the Australian things Americans call barbeques... right?
But why do you need so many barbeques and where do you store them?

And any good music is worth listening. 8)

Truthfully, I've always been this way. I have seven sisters. I'm the only boy. I guess that some sensitivity has rubbed off on me. LOL
people always think that I'm gay, not that there's anything wrong with people who are gay, but I'm not. I just like Family values. I still watch cartoons and collect toys.
I also play hockey, listen to Metallica and hunt and fish. I am just enjoying life and I rebel against stereotypes. I think that a lot of us do so. I am not ashamed of it. I'm happy to admit it. I don't want to a mean man. I like being nice and happy. life is too short.

Anyway, I know that you are teasing. I got some good laughs today. Thanks Arseen  :)

maybe you should hang out in the freezer for a bit, that should cool you down  :)

I will call you Sweep-a-table.
funny story, my Armenian friend told me a story about his first times in the States:
he had a job as a bus boy in a restaurant. A waitress had shouted out to the cook for an order of Sweet Potatoes. My friend thought that she was talking to him and he thought that she said "Sweep a table". He said that he had thought "why would they want me to sweep a table with a broom." He said he got the broom and whenever he was about to sweep the table, the waitress asked him what it is that he is doing. Everyone laughed. He still laughs about it now that his English is better. So, we should call you Sweep-a-table.  ;D

i go now ...

She is a buzy woman, she is a doctor, one of the most liked around here.

I'm RPN (registered practical nurse) and I've never had problem handling dead people, and she told me a while back one possible reason.

When I was around 4 or 5 we lived in small town and she was one of the 2 doctors there and it was her turn to recieve emergency calls.

Well one old lady had died of natural causes.
She had kicked the bucked while sitting in a rocking chair, and she had to be prononced, so the ambulance carried the lady to our home still sitting in the chair.
Naturally we kids were interested, and instead of telling us to go away our mother allowed us to look and even touch the lady (she knew that the lady had liked kids and would have not minded).

So nowadays I handle dead people once in a while and never have felt anything wierd in it.

a Doctor? that's pretty cool.
RPN? interesting. You are pretty cool. Very interesting work.

I did emergency work for a while, so I am used to dead bodies too.
I was a little freaked out about it the first time that I had been around a dead body.
I had responded to a call involving a fatal car crash. The husband and wife had both died. very sad.
I do not mind dead bodies but missing parts is too much for me. I cannot handle it.

I wanted to be a cop for a short time but I smoke cigarettes.  I did not want to quit smoking at that time. I moved on to computer programming and web design.

I just recently discovered that I am related to King Louis XIV, XV, XVI.
My ancestors were disinherited and persecuted for religious beliefs.
I think that I shall take over France  ;D LOL
just kidding but I really am related to the royal family. interesting.

okay, i work now. lots to do.
I hope that you have a pleasant day and best regards to your Family.

Related to royal family trumps me being second cousin of Ville Valo (the lead singer of HIM).

Never met him tough, found out the connection 2 years ago.

Yikes!

I'll admit, I always wanted this one:

Alfred Hitchcock The Birds edition

I find it hilarious.
I remember seeing it a LONG time ago when it was $20, it is now $110+.  :-\
Too much for what would be a funny novelty for me.

I had forgotten about that Barbie. I like the birds that come with it. Pretty cool, especially for Hitchcock fans. Barbies are the same as action figures just carry a feminine stereotype with them. Actually, alot of people collect Barbie dolls and some people sell them for profit. Sometimes rare dolls can bring in alot of cash.

I just purchased the Wizard of Oz collection recently and I want to add the Batman and Catwoman dolls soon - they all look like the original actors/actresses.

I'll also admit that I like Monster High. LOL
okay, no more telling on myself. I duct-tape my fingers now.

I always thought that $100+ is too high but the dolls are actually quite nice nowadays. The clothing is very real, just small. The hair and accessories are much nicer than before. My Wife likes to collect Barbie dolls and now she has me doing it too :-D I like the Coach Barbie that was recently released but it is already sold out at the Mattel site.

I'm adding the Hitchcock to our list now. Thanks for reminding me, Larry  :)

ja, i see the original price:

see what i mean about profit? ka-ching.

The most I ever spent on a figure was on a Sonic Adventure 2 Shadow Figure. $50 new a few years ago. Kinda glad, they are imposable to find now.
I got the Sonic one from a friend for $10.

I'm not as interested in figures as I was, I'm mostly looking to complete my McFarlane Beatles set, I'm missing series 1 John and George. Kinda sad considering they are the two currently passed away.
I wish the would make some other figures not based on the Yellow Submarine design. They released 5-6 sets of them in the same design. Why not a Sgt. Pepper, or Magical Mystery Tour, or Get Back, or A Hard Days Night era or something?
A new set coming out is $100 per figure. Nope

Paul (Tan Pants) looks pissed as hell.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm actually really impressed with the monitor on this thing. Takes a minute or two to fully focus, but I've never seen pixels so sharp on an old-schooly tube like this. Now I just need to replace the old wobbly fan in the power supply and I shouldn't have to mess around with this thing anymore! Totally obsessed with this thing...
