So now that the SCD U.S project is completed, I want to really concentrate on 3DO U.S.
Some of you might have noticed that I recently uploaded a bunch of 3DO and many of them are fully custom (built from scratch not from scans). This is of course not an option and unfortunately RAW scans are hard to come by on the WEB.
SO... I'M CALLING ALL OF YOU 3DO BROTHERS AND SISTERS!! CHECK YOUR SHELVES and YOUR DRAWERS and YOUR BOXES. Look into your CELLARS and ATTICS! Your BASEMENTS and CRAWL SPACES.. FIND THEM CASES AND SCAN THEM!!! AND LETS BRING LIBERT..... err ..... quality dvd case covers.. TO THE WORLD!!!

I got Shock Wave, Total Eclipse and a Goldstar Controller CIB.
I was going to work on a template that does not stretch the art.
Not a big fan of this template:
Nothing against the cover in the template BTW.
I'm planning on buying more games soon, and I want to get all my games CIB, so I'll keep you posted on what new ones I get.

LETS DO IT!!..
We can work together and maybe come up with something better.
-
WITH THE POWER OF TEAM WORK ANYTHING IS POSABLE.
I'll look at some 3DO system boxes for inspiration.

I don't own and have never owned a 3DO so forgive me if this is a stupid question. What is the more common box/case type for 3DO games. Googling it I've seen a large mix of CD case size art and an odd longbox style. Are they just kind of mixed with both sizes or is that region based or something?
If i had a better idea what dimension the art is usually in i may have an idea or two to contribute to a new 3DO template.

Almost all the games came in a cardboard long cardboard box that contained a CD jewel case inside. The game information and screenshots where mostly located on the back of the Longbox not the CD case.
Most EA and ReadySoft games came in a long box acts as a case case (no cd jewel case).
JP games were only release in Jewel Case
(http://www.shopncsx.com/images1/products/detail/policenauts_3do_00.jpg)
EU games used U.S. boxes with a PEGI sticker on them
So to answer your question... LONGBOX unless it's a JP game

I'll try to dig out what I have, though, it's not much from what I recall (I sold most of my 3DO collection over 10 years ago). I should still have the 2 AD&D games left (Slayer and Deathkeep), Icebreaker, Way of the Warrior and a bunch of demo CDs that came in jewel cases, assuming I can find those in storage. I at least know where my 3DO is, and my daisy chained controllers (which I always thought was a cool idea).
-
Here is an Idea of the blank space on the DVD covers.
3DO boxes are very tall, About the same height as two jewel cases on top of each other.
I can post some pictures soon.

Something in this neighborhood?
(sorry I do not have imandix on this comp so i had to mickey mouse the preview)

Not bad. :)
Just bit afraid how that beautiful spine thing prints out. :-\

I don't follow.
You day it's too "pretty"?

Just that will it print out even close as good looking as it's on the screen.
I mean will the slidetone detail stay or will it go bad looking.
-
Sorry, but I think it's ugly. I prefer the look of the current 3do templates
-
I think the Red/Blue/Yellow color scene is too flashy. Distracts form the cover art to much.
I might go for a mostly black with purple and yellow like the Goldstar box.
I dont like the unified color spine eather. I may put the borders on the other side of the image.

Another option

Or

i vote the last one :P

Could someone upload an unaltered RAW scan of any 3DO longbox front and back? I would like to see for myself what kind of demensions we are dealing with.
Preferably 600dpi if possible (300dpi would do but not preferable). Thanks :)

Better, but that bar is just...so.....big......
How about putting a smaller bar either side of the artwork? The gigantic banners just take the spotlight from the original artowork IMHO. Then again, I don't have a 3DO yet, so my opinion is worth peanuts.

Don't own a 3DO, but what if you just put smaller bar with just one color and logo on that bar as it is on picture as it is on the picture, and use the retail spine, as johnnyphantom said, he has almost a complete set you can use original spine to unified front, spine and back

I think we were thinking along the same lines. In this one I just increased the size of the spit a bit compared to the template I currently use. It better fits the long box but its not overly large.
Below is a comparison with the same game but the current template.
