Title: TF's Star Wars Audio Collection (24-disc Poly Case)
Post by: TyrannicalFascist on July 16, 2013, 01:22:42 PM
I decided to collect all my Star Wars audiobooks and audio dramas together into Omnibus-like groupings in 24-disc poly cases. Not only does it save a ton of space horizontally and vertically, but it makes them ideal for enjoying the stories in order. These are designed to house the official CD releases of all the audiobooks and audio dramas, as well as conversions of the audio cassettes to Audio CD. In my conversions, two double-sided cassettes equate to 3 discs. Alternatively, you could use mp3 CDs to get 1 book on less discs. For digital-only releases like Allegiance and the Darth Bane Trilogy, I'm using mp3 CDs, which end up being 2-3 discs per book. Most volumes I've made have some freedom with a couple free CD sleeves. If not, I've found you can fit 1, maybe 2 sleeves in a case in addition to a full set.

Update 4/28/14: With the recent announcement by Lucasfilm, I thought it was time to revisit and finish this set. For those that don't know, basically all of the Expanded Universe prior to now, as well as the remaining Dark Horse comics for the rest of their run this year are going to be rebranded as "Legends". This makes it, as TheForce.net lit forum users have called it, "Schrödinger's Canon" - it both may or may not have happened in the Star Wars universe until the new continuity either references it, or outright contradicts it. If anyone knows much about the Star Wars EU and watched much of The Clone Wars, you know how both have happened.

Anyways, while bitter-sweet news, it does put a finite cap on the books that fall under "Legends", as all new books and comics will be under the new Star Wars canon officially. So now I know exactly how many audiobooks there are and when they take place! So I went back and revisited the sets and especially completely revamped the "Rise of the Sith" and "Dark Times" volumes.

So I made two versions of all of these: the regular edition, and versions that have the "Legends" banner at the top. Personally, I will be using the Legends versions so that I can keep them separated from future canon audiobooks that might be collected in similarly named volumes. I don't recommend mixing and matching as the 2 versions don't line up because of the banner.

Since some of the book cover art in recent years has been pretty lackluster, I really wanted to highlight some of the best art of the Expanded Universe, particularly the Japanese covers and the art featured in Essential Guides and Role Playing/Card games. Each volume spine features 3 characters representative of the stories within.

Here's what I've got available so far: Updated 4/28/14

The order of books follows most Star Wars timelines. The Clone Wars era is kind of a mess because of the recent series, but I've attempted to take my best guess at a good order.

Still to come are:

and then one or two volumes for the Star Wars Trilogy Radio Dramas, unabridged Thrawn Trilogy digital releases, the "William Shakespeare" version of the trilogy and any miscellaneous leftovers.

I picked up a 40pk of these because of all these damn dvd cases laying around.  Is there a good template around that gives the dimensions so i can print up the covers properly and don't waste 2 bottles of ink doing it? :D

Thanks, I'm glad you think them! I'll work on wrapping up The Old Republic volumes 2 & 3 soon, after that I'll probably take a break as I want to revisit my GB/C/A custom spines. Then I'll finish the rest of these.

This is awesome, I love the Legends versions you've made, I want to down load all of these now since I'm not very familiar with the EU.
