Nintendo iQue Template by Shenske
Some of you might not know what an iQue is.
Deffinately look it up on google or wiki for a better description of the console.
Basically its a really late arrival of N64 games in China (i believe).
(You could also download, for a price, classic nintendo games. Sounds familiar to another nintendo system.)
The sytem used memory cards that hold the game and plug into the controller.
The games could be stored in pretty much any size case but i chose to make the template for the Universal Game Case so it would fit next to the N64 games.
I would think the covers would be added to the Nintendo 64 section.
well anyways here are some covers to show it off. :)

I think they look fabulous.
-
do you guys think i should put a N64 logo on the cover?
since the games on the system were originally N64 games

Nice job, shenske!
I thought the iQue games were built in or downloadable since piracy is so rampant in China?

from wiki
"Games for this console are stored on a 64MB flash card which is contained within a cartridge that plugs directly into controller/console. Games are purchased at a special "iQue depot" where games may be downloaded onto the cartridge and played later, in a similar manner to the Famicom Disk System"
i actually almost bought one a few years back and am reconsidering it again :)
-
if anyone actually even has this game console :P
Do you guys like the covers and template enough for me to upload them?
if so i will after work tomorrow and make a few more covers (which should sum up all of the games on the system so far)
-
They look nice but i doubt if there is need for a section containing this console.... But that's just me others may disagree....

I kinda agree with you there, since I doubt the iQue will ever be released outside of China.
Still great covers though.

Being that it's a N64 clone, I belive they should go to the N64 section

Yeah I suppose that would be ok.... We'd just have to come up with a descriptor but that's admin stuff.... ;)

sorry for digging this thread up,
what do you guys think i should do with these covers, i don't want them to be lost in limbo.
i think it would be pretty easy to finish off the set of Nintendo iQue covers.
also, how should the game be named if/when i upoad them?
maybe ... n64_supermario64_ique and display name Super Mario 64 (iQue)
-
The covers look gorgeous. They should be posted on the site for sure, if you ask me. What's the point of having a cover database if you're not gonna have any unusual stuff in it? ;D
-
I agree with Jigsaw. Maybe there might not be many people in need of them, but since this is a cover database, there should be all sorts of different things available, regardless of obscurity.
Plus, those covers look way too nice to NOT do anything with. :)

n64_supermario64_2 (standard numbering process) would do fine..
Keep them in the same page as the others Mario 64 covers but instead of having "retail cover", "custom cover" or "original cover" as a type you can just put "iQue cover"

will do, i'll upload the ique covers along with the rest of my covers in a few days or so along with the rest of my covers

Another suggestion.. Since Ique was released in China... You might want to put the name to include the country code. (n64_supermario64_cn)
-
thanks for pointing that out, i might not have noticed that

Don't want to crash the party...
I partly agree with Vt102 and tiktektak, covers like Super Mario 64 should be listed in the N64 section with the appropriate number in the standard numbering process.
On the other hand I would vote against having a iQue description. A while back we talked about the descriptors and that there are way too many in the database, so we wanted to cut it down to the basics.
That's why I would suggest to have the usual "retail cover" or "custom cover" as a descriptor, whatever suits the cover. "original cover" is obsolete since it irritatated a lot of people in the past as for what exactly "original" means. So I'd say put the iQue in the name like Shenske suggested, e.g. Super Mario 64 (iQue). That's how we do it with the Virtual Console covers for Wii, which I think is the best in this case, too.
And for the region, if you insist on marking it as Chinese you should PM Snowcone. The only options for Asian covers we have on the admin panel right now are _jp for Japan and _kr for Korea since until now we have never come across a Chinese cover and I think it will be quite rare :) So either PM him so he can add the country abbreviation to the admin panel, lable it as _jp, which would be representative for Asia in general, or go with _none for no region specified. Your choice ;)
-
For the sake of completeness though, I think it's probably a good idea to have a "China" region as well. These days quite a few games released for the Hong Kong market get their own version with a Chinese cover (even if the game is usually the exact same as the US version), and it'd be nice to have somewhere to fit in those cases, should someone scan them. I personally have a handful of Chinese Xbox 360 games as well as God of War II for the PS2, for example.

I completely agree with you kaiser... We agreed that the less descriptors there are the better....
-
Hey Shenske, do you still have this template?
-
Yeah I'd still like to see these covers uploaded. I'd suggest marking the covers as custom because they are'nt exactly the original boxes, and just putting the region as Chinese. No need for new descriptors or doubling up on names. (lol this is an old thread isn't it.....)
-
yeah, I still have the template. I decided not to upload the covers because they are made from Japanese scans for a Chinese system. Doesn't make much sense, I don't know why I did it in the first place.
I could upload the f-zero x one though, that one is made from an actual chinese ique scan.
-
Any chance you could host the template itself somewhere as well? even if its just to a temporary site. I want to make some covers for my own collection, even if they dont get uploaded here, and I like your template design. I found some promo poster artwork and the game logos on ique.com and other sites that I'd like to try to work something out of.
If not the f-zero x cover would still be useful to base my own design on or something. I'm still not completely sure what Im doing for them. They will probably end up being placeholder cases like wiiware, since the games are downloaded to one 64MB memory card that is signed to the console (so you can't use additional cards). But anyway, whatever you feel comfortable sharing will be helpful. :)
