Title: Request: Hi-Res Super Mario All-Stars SNES-NTSC-Retail
Post by: Pikmin Overlord on August 26, 2012, 11:40:57 PM
Hey all,

Going through some more Super NES covers, and found that this old Super Mario All Stars retail cover is looking quite long in the tooth -- it's quite low res and blurry. Can anyone out there could provide a new box scan for this, so that it is available if someone is able to work on it?

Thanks!

That cover is...well, terrible.  I started touching it up, but then I realized it was a waste of time.  We really need a new scan.

I was really surprised to see that such a popular game didn't have a hi-res scan / cover.  If no one bites - I do have a touched-up version from this file, but it still isn't great.  It is better though.

I have one.  it's beat up too (I think), but my girlfriend found it for $1.99.... that ass....

Ya, the black alone is uneven throughout, the screenshots are quite blurry, and the name on the spine is s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d out. It did the trick for a while, but I think it's time we fixed those things. It would probably be easiest to acquire a new scan.

Sweet, ShootimNow. If you get some time, perhaps you could try scanning and uploading it? I knew that there have to be members out there with this box!

I agree completely. There's quite a few boxes of some of the more popular SNES games have very low res covers. I'm at work right this second so I can't go through and pick out a handful but I can think of Yoshis Island,  Breath of Fire, Tetris Attack, and FF3 a right off the top of my head. I've been holding off printing those along with a few more hoping to either get my hands on some good scans or for one of our many talented artists to throw one together.

Nice, thanks ShoothimNow!

Now perhaps one of our many talented cover artists is feeling inspired or ambitious...?

Those are really great and refreshing. Only thing that sucks is the fact, Greatest Hits, Players Choice, etc, ruins everything and in this case, cuts off some of the artwork, but I bet a talented artist here could rebuild the remaining bits that the Players Choice cuts off.

Hmmm, possibly? It would be excellent to have a non-player's choice retail cover, too!

Here is a 5 second edit

That is nothing.  The only part we don't have is part of his hat.

One can splice two pictures together like this one and it would be extremely simple to create

That part is supposed to be blocked out. Just put back the black box.

Wow, nice work, ShoothimNow! That's impressive. And don't let my lack of knowledge about photo-editing knowledge devalue that praise. You guys can seriously work some magic!

... I bet a talented artist here could rebuild the remaining bits that the Players Choice cuts off.

The prophecy has come true!

Looks good, but the lower left corner needs to be modified too. The ESRB is not on the old release. I may take a crack at finishing it off. On a slightly off topic point, Did SMAS+SMW ever have a boxed release. or was it a pack in title only? If there was no box, I was thinking of modifying this cover to add SMW to the logos on the left, and ad a caped Mario somewhere or something.

I just wanted to show it was an easy fix, don't be expecting me to do this lol.  I have way too many other things I need to be doing

You got the ball rolling, Shoot. Hopefully your quick work will inspire others to take the reins.
