Title: N64 - Pokémon Stadium 1 & 2 SPINES - NTSC
Post by: satoshi_matrix on November 05, 2007, 12:38:31 AM
Okay, I've got a bit of an odd request, so hear goes.

I request someone redo the Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon Stadium 2 spines.

As stands, the spine for Pokémon Stadium features a squished venusaur in the background, because the original box that the game came in was absolutely huge to accompidate the N64-GB transfer pak. The only approch I can see is to create a custom spine with the game logo and whatever else you see fit to place.

The problem with Stadium 2 is that the box was orignally a matallic shiny surface - a scanned reproduction just can't produce the same effect. It looks rather.....awful. Care should be given to keep in mind that Stadium 1 and 2 will be side by side, so the spines should carry a certain continuity to them.

If someone could redo the spines, that's all I'd need since I've already printed the covers. But, if someone were to add them to the existing scans that would be great too.  I hope you guys can help!

i would say yes, but i have a lot of other covers i have committed to.

If no one has recreated it when i'm done with the other pokemon covers and final fantasy tactics (PS1) then i will be happy to remake them.

Okay thanks a lot shenske. I can appritate if your busy and can't do it now. If nobody else is willing to give it a go, I'll take a crack at it myself. Again, thanks for the reply.

I'd be happy to help, if I were able to find a decent image editing program for my Mac!  >:(

I'd still like to see this happen. These two games are the only two N64 games I've left uncovered because I'm unsatisified with what's currently avalible. shenske do you think you could take the time to complete these? If not I'll have to go do it myself, but I'd rather have someone with a lot of experience do this instead.

i was looking over the covers on the site and had a couple problems.

1.   you want me to just make a custom spine and not recreate the cover, right?
2.   do you want the spines to masked in green or blue? (like the original n64 boxes)

if i mask the spine with a color they could have a nice uniform look

just let me know  :)

1. Unless you have a great idea to recreate the covers, just the spines are fine. But if you can add the old covers with the new spines to the site, all the better.
2. For the spines, keep in mind I'll have them to Pokémon Puzzle Leage, so blue I suppose. You can use the cover for that game as a guide. I just want to make them look uniformed, and united under a series. The most important thing to keep in mind is that when all is said and done, all three (and snap to a lesser extent) will be side by side and should look uniform.

Thanks shenske.

wow! I Think those 2 spines look really nice.

I'll just throw in my 2 cents though...

don't you think that maybe you could move totodile over a bit so that piece of his nose doesn't cut in to the other spine?  just a thought.

amazing work nonetheless!

i actually kind of split him on purpose, the two spines are meant to be side by side and not separate.

when i move totodile more over to the right his tail is gone.  :o

That looks great shenske, but its not exactly all I was hoping for. See for me, I'm not really a fan of the custom spines being spead out to create a master image thing. I want the two games to be uniform yes, but I don't know if I care for the Pikachu and the other Pokémon crossing. Nothing against Pikachu, but he isn't the main focus of either title. I like the main idea you have there, and I defenetly think Kanto is a good choice for a background image across both, but I think you should get rid of all the current Pokémon there and crop in a Mewtwo on Stadium 1 and Ho-oh and Lugia on Stadium 2. The Pokémon should be cropped on each cover, not overlaping each cover. The background alone doing that is more than enough.

I'm also not particularly fond of adding "1" onto the first games of series. I'm of the opinion that if there is no bumber you assume its the first. One final comment: if you can, I'd like it if you could add in something to indicate it uses the transfer pak on the spine. Take a look at my Pocket Monsters Stadium spines for a general idea.

Again, not saying your work sucks in fact I think its fantastic. I just don't personally care for what's currently avalible. Thanks shenske.
