I like them. I think you should do a version of them with black spines. The reasons for this are:
1. I know you like the ones with the silver spines, but you should do the black ones also, because

Dammit Shenske, I'm gonna have to reprint all of my Pokemon covers. Also note that my Pokemon Diamond cover was created by scanning a still sealed box. Never opened it, decided not to actually play it, sold it to friend. I submitted a brightened version, but the admins didn't upload it. 25% brighter looked better IMO.

What dimensions are you using in IMANDIX for your previews. I can't get my version to do a half-size DVD case like the DS one.

If you wanted to go with the official cover, but not have the huge wireless link logo, you could probably use the Player's Choice version of the cover (modify the PC logo out, of course)

shenske, how about creating this custom spine idea to the other Pokémon games, namely the good ones: Puzzle Laague Challenge, Trading Card Game and Pinball? Pinball is an iffy subject since because of the rumble pak it would need to be stored in two DS cases, similar to WarioWare Twisted. Check the site to see how that was done.

I think that you should finish what you started. I'd love to see what all the games would look like lined up together on a shelf. And if possible, could you add Diamond and Pearl to the mix so I can see what it looks like? That'd be awesome.

i think it looks good but i don't think the site can host homebrew covers themed after copyrighted material. :'(
its unfortunate but we have to avoid the lawsuits. I have made homebrew covers too that can't be hosted here.
Add to that, what would you put inside the case? If its a R4 or something, well we already have the cover for the R4 so thats outta the question. Unless you plan to just leave it empty, much like the Vertual Console cases here. But if that's the case and I don't want to sound rude, but that's really really dumb. Its a waste of a case, ink, paper, effort, and time. If we hosted it, it would also be a waste of bandwidth and storage space.covers r serious buisness huh? :P

Just got done uploading raws for 1 DS cover (Spectros CE, I hope the reflectiveness of the box is not a problem), 3 GBC (Powerpuff Girls - Battle Him, Paint the Townsville Green, and Bad Mojo Jojo) and 4 GBA covers (Babar, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Polarium Advanced, and Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends).

I know this post was forever ago, but if you are still around, I wanted to ask if since the V-Tetris cover is your own scan is the quality better than the others?
Once again I didnt like the other cover we had on the site. There was a lot of streching and discolorations + it just looks pretty bad. No offense to the original cover maker its just the scans of the box are bad. :DNo hard feelings.

You upload an image, type out the text contained in the image and it searches it's massive database of fonts to attempt to determine what style font is used in the image.

I didn't even bother uploading the M&M's cover to the site, I had a feeling it was going to be rejected.
I'm using the latest version of gimp at 300 ppi unless there is a difference between dpi and ppi...
The original scans that were used say they are at 300 dpi using the windows explorer picture viewer...even the completed cover is appearing as 300 dpi...are you by any chance looking at the imageshack version? DPI & PPI are the same thing, maybe your original scan in the raw folder was bad quality ???

Here's a little idea that would be a nice touch. Before you print out the final copy you're going to use, open the cover back up in Photoshop and add your serial number in the display box on the back. Will look much better than just a blank white area. ;)

I second this! This is a Tetris cover that just draws you in. Plus, it actually has a barcode and UPC (something I'm very particular about), though my current resources can't confirm if that is the correct barcode. Is it? And can you make it available for download?

In reality this cover won't make it to the site unless you completely change teh barcode and front image, also the back upper right info stuff and the front lower right info stuff are way too low res.
You didn't use 300dpi stuff to begin with. The Game Boy color template we have looks much sharper and more high res.
The front artwork is blurry and has a pixelated title. The barcode is unreadable low res.
What is good is the back text, screenshots and back legal text the rest needs replacement.
if I want to achieve this stuff I'll probably need some raws as these were the best I could find. the back and spine I made myself but the front was taken off google Images. the barcode, I admit, was one of the things I was expecting you guys to pick up on, as the only image I could find of the back of this box was a german one on ebay :'(

Gameboy Micro Wireless Adapter!
Had to enlarge the shot of the micro quite a bit. If anyone wants to send a higher res shot my way I'll fix it up. Overall pretty darn happy with it. I'll likely update my other cover to bring it more inline with this one. Kinda want a micro now just to use this cover...

Nintendo online store. If you're crafty, go check out your local GameStop stores, and see if they sell their used DS games in the original cases, or if they just put the cartridges in a glass container. The the latter is the case, then talk to the guy behind the counter. All of the GameStops around where I live just THROW THE CASES AWAY when people trade their complete DS games in. I think it's a ridiculous waste, but it happens a lot. Last time I went into my local GameStop, I asked if they got any DS game trades in and walked out of the store with a cardboard box filled with 50+ DS cases. That's easily the best/cheapest way to get cases, and everyone benefits. At the end of the day, it's one less thing for the employees to bring to the dumpster, you get your cases that you wanted so badly, and the cases are saved from spending an eternity in a landfill.

Oh jeeze, I hope not. I think the spines already in effect look so much better... If he doesn't do matching alternates for Black and White, then that's the final nail in the coffin; there's no way I'm buying Black and White. (Not like I really wanted them anyway... :D)

Yes, its out of the question. If you want the other spine style then you can use the one's i already have on the site. I don't want to have 10 alternates for every cover, i'm keeping it to a minimum.

I didn't use a font, I cut them out of the front logo at the bottom of each cover. For the Green version i just pieced together letters from the other versions to spell "Green" out.

To answer everyone's forthcoming posts in advance: No i'm not adding "Special Pikachu Edition" to the spine. All of the pokemon games have a color and i hear it more oftentimes referred to as Yellow Version than Special Pikachu Edition ... yellow wins out. No discussion, its just what it is.

The logo issue is a big one with MM games for me. There are SOOOOO many different logos for the games, and finding good quality versions of all of them can be a total PITA. That's why I just went ahead and made my own title that I use for all the MM games (much to Seraph's dismay :P)

Question, in Imandix Cover Pro, how do you get render DS cases?
First of all the New/Old version definition is not official, it's just what I call
Old format is the one the yesterday posted Galactic Pinball cover and Symptoms0fMercy's covers use:
- The green images on blue area are blurry and over all bad looking IMHO.
- There are clear breaks where back and spine & front and spine meet.
The New Format is the one manson976 created and uses in his covers:
- The green parts were replaced with clean ones (he used map of world as it matches quite well with the old lines).
- The breaks are removed
- Blue/red background colors are more vibrant
- He also added extra images to the back (the covers with word plus in the name)
(Space Invaders seem to use bit different red parts, and 3D Tetris seems to have extra artefact over the honey comb on the front)
manson976 created the template to replace the bad old one when nobody else did altough few had promised.
The template is not published, but hopefully he will release it if requested

another reason why i think all games should be released without region locks and in multple language formats some things would never get released outside of japan ( like Namco X Capcom ) which means you either have to a. import ( and find translation notes online) b. go without or c. hope someone fan translates and releases it across the web ( which is bootlegging , not cool )

I kinda wanna call BS on that, cause IIRC all of current consoles are region locked. AFAIK the only region free system is the PS Vita.
PS3 is completely region free (as far as games go) and the XBOX360 has lockout, but most games seem to not employ it. The Wii is pretty much the only one holding on to that tired-ass tradition.

This is funny as I just watch some of your video's on youtube about you claiming they made the actual covers for there games, which I high doubt.

We DO actually make new covers for our cases. No - not all of them. But we do give explicit credit to The Cover Project (including a link) on our home page. We are semi-regular contributers to this site. Lately we've been working on stuff we can't sell (too new) and have been posting it to these forums for anyone to download.
We also regularly send people to these forums when they e-mail us and ask about volume discounts, etc. We tell them that they're better off buying the cases themselves in bulk and printing the covers.
While the price may seem outrageous to you, you are not our target customer for this service. Anyone who has sold on eBay will understand that the fees from eBay, Paypal, and the postal service are quite high. We offer free shipping on all US orders. We believe that the price of our service is fair.
Obviously we are not the only people doing this, we've just been around the longest. With all of the hate we get around here it's a wonder we continue posting any of our new designs at all...

While I really do love the new revamped Pokemon covers, I have a few issues with the Crystal one you made, Shenske. First is a minor one, there's no space between continueswith in the top paragraph, and second, Crystal version can't be played on the original game boy, so the bit on the back about the Game Boy Color is wrong.

No updates yet. Work has been insanely busy lately. I have also bee sick a lot so thats no help.
I'll need to reexamine ruby/sapphire/emerald 's art that i have for it. I would really prefer not to have rework on the front. If you by chance have any of these boxes and would be willing to scan them @600dpi it would make my life much easier.

Shenske's Pokémon series are custom covers, so he's not trying to adhere exactly to the official box art. I like that it isn't the same, since it adds to the spectrum of colors in the whole set.

Good, this was on purpose.
Ruby will also have a slight purple hue to it as well when compared to Red. My emerald cover will have a slight blueish hue to it too.
All the Pokemon covers i make use different colors so they make a gradient when printed out (as seen in the last preview picture in my previous post). If i didn't do this we would have 3 blue and 3 red Pokemon games (not including diamond, pear, x or y). I simply didn't want them to look all the same and have a big block of the same color.

Not me. I have zero interest in using the 3DS size cases for anything besides 3DS games. I like the DS cases because they leave more space on the spine for art and are thick enough for large manuals.
A quick query about my Mega Man covers that I'd like feedback on:
Some of my favorite GB covers (visually speaking) are Shenske's Pokemon covers and Super Mario Land covers, not to mention Lumberjack42's Zelda covers. All of these covers have a drop shadow on the edge of the silver "Game Boy" border on the front. I just realized that this is something I could easily add to my Mega Man covers.
Do you guys like the drop shadow on covers? If so, should my covers have them? I'm kinda on the fence; I'm not sure if it would benefit them at all. However, if that's something that people want, I can easily add it. Please let me know what you think.

I took a break from my super-secret PS1 project to put the finishing touches on another GBA cover I had mostly-finished for the last few months. I used two different images for the front, cleaned them up as best as I could and then blended them together. The back (save for the MMZ3 logo and screenshot borders) was re-done nearly from scratch since the background would have made it nearly impossible to clean up the text properly, at least as far as my skill level goes. The spine was also re-done similarly. I had an internal battle deciding whether or not to include the little Zero pose on the spine. I would have had to have the logo off-center if it was included, and I didn't like the way it looked that way, so I've opted to leave it off for now. Perhaps I'll return to it later and give that another go, but for now I feel like this cover is very much finished.

I had an idea a few days ago. We know that DS cases also have Gameboy Advance Slots, right? So why not take advantage of that? The only thing I could think of, was the first Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, which was released on both Gameboy Advance and Nintendo DS.

Was really hoping we could use the CV Legends for the site but sadly the front is low res.... The back looks pretty nice though. Now we only need a really good scan.I have a good NTSC version in my box folder, though I think only in 3DS, I can convert it to DS.
