Title: Wiggy templates
Post by: wiggy on March 06, 2012, 01:16:47 PM
I've been getting requests for my templates, so I cleaned 'em all up, labeled the layers, and deleted any extra crap that I had floating around in them.

A few of notes:

Here's an example of what I'm talking about.

Scanned N64 graphic versus my rebuilt vector version:

Also, here's a cleaned up (i.e. vector) version of the SNES "Only For Nintendo" logo

I've got templates for the PS1 (cover and disc), PS2 (cover and disc), Saturn (cover and disc), Wii (cover and disc), Wonderswan (in jewel case), and those UniKeep 20 disc cases that I posted about a while back too.  I'll clean those up at some point and upload them as well at some point soon.

If you have any requests, then just let me know.  I've already provided a bunch of custom artwork to various members for a variety of reasons.  I enjoy doing this sort of thing, so don't be afraid to ask.

Admins, I wasn't sure where to post this thread since the template sub-forum doesn't allow me to make a new thread.  Sorry if this is an inappropriate section for this sort of thing.

Excellent, thank you wiggy! I'm going to convert over all my GB/GBC/GBA cases at the very least.

I would be curious to see your Saturn template.

My disc-based templates are very, and I mean EXTREMELY minimal at the moment.  I'm gonna add a bit more to them before I post.  There's ZERO technical data on the back right now (like number of players, barcode, etc.)  I know most folks here aren't down for that level of minimalism, so I'll go ahead and get them more TCP friendly ;)

Here's what I mean when I say extremely minimal.

When you make your templates more TCP friendly, please don't ( i repeat DO NOT) discard your minimalistic templates and covers. I for one am a big fan of custom covers, and I'm not the only one here. If you create a custom cover there's really no guideline besides the quality (i.e resolution, dimensions and so forth). So making them TCP friendly is an awesome courtesy to our members who value all the technical data and it is very much appreciated if you go the extra mile for that. But it is in no way a must. Just in case you ever create a cover that you feel is perfect without all that technical stuff, don't hesitate to upload it because you think it's not TCP friendly.

Thanks, and I don't plan on it ;)

I've still got a bunch of PS2 and Saturn games to do, and I plan on using my current templates :)

I'll go ahead and up both versions when I get the revisions done.  Glad to hear others dig that sort of thing!

Just a quick one to say great work Wiggy. Keep it up.

Thank you so much!  =)

Loving that Neo Geo Pocket template, and the 64 one. Gotta be a NES one coming at some point yeah? ;)

It's funny because I had no intention of making an NGP template, and it ended up being my favorite ;D

Well, I sold my NES collection off in college (one of the last things I wanted to let go of along with my record collection, but that's how it goes).  So, I'm in no hurry to do it, BUT, I would like to eventually make templates for every modern system (NES/Master System and up).  I've been way more into collecting lately, so maybe I'll start up that NES collection again...

I only started NES recently after I got a good deal on an AV Famicom. Loving how sadistically difficult these games are haha.

3/15/2012 - Revised the SNES/SFC template.  Now includes Super Scope compatibility icon, Super FX chip icon, and "Only For Nintendo" label.

Enjoy!

So, I'm pretty close to done with the new PS2 and Saturn templates.  What are your opinions?

I'm planning doing PS1, PS3, Xbox, and Xbox360 templates in this vein as well.  Any other disc-based game templates that you guys might want in this style?

I like em, they seem kind of futuristic and RAD, I dunno if I would use em, but they do look cool.

Do...

Cd-i
3DO
JagCD
FMTowns Marty
DOS CD
Windows CD/DVD
Mac CD/DVD
TG-16 CD
Sega CD
NES
Atari (2600, 5200, 7800)

I am just naming consoles out of random now...I'll stop.
and DVD/Blu-ray movie templates for multiple titles in one case (Series sets)

Can I get the templates for the PS2 and Saturn?

Wow, that's a whole giant mess o' systems to tackle  :o

I can get the templates uploaded in the next day or so.  Just need to put the last few little tweaks into place and they'll be good to go.

I should also mention that I designed them so that adjusting the border colors would be a cinch, so anyone can have whatever color scheme they want.  I was thinking about using a different color for each game to better match the artwork ;)

Wiggy,

I checked most of your boxes. Impressive work, to be admired.
I've been registered here and on cheapassgamer (that's how I found out about this site later on) for some time. But life got a hold of me, wife, house, work and thensome later and I'm catching up to my hobby.
Unlike you, I'm more into recreating/sticking to original NES/SNES/GENESIS packaging

I've redesigned/retraced/re-did a massive amount of logos for my personal use, but seldomly posted them on the net. Some of them are here: http://ImageEvent.com/gamescans/videogamelogos

Some of my boxes (ama begginner): http://vgboxart.com/designer/GameScanner.org/

... and until I've seen your box of SNES Cleaning Kit, I though I was the only one who did a box like that!

Oops! Sorry I went off topic. It's just exciting to see that there are many more people who share same passion!
Good luck man :)

Just wondering, I've started redoing all my cases into more custom art work, and there's a ton of game boy ones you're missing that I need. Instead of begging for you to make them for me like most noobs seem to, would you be able to at least fix the links so I can download the templates then take a shot at it myself? I love your style there's just so much missing between your and my collections

Also, not sure if you know but it seems almost all your links are not downloading, at least in here and the handheld thread. The previews come up but I can't download

If it's a money thing I'd be willing to talk about paying for your templates to be up maybe another month, I can't be the only guy left on the internet who wants to use them lol

I gotta re-up all these templates. Even if you can DL them, they're woefully out of date, and I don't know if I ever upped the Genesis template or not. I'm leaning towards not. I'll get them sorted out when I can. My personal computer is all packed up for the move, and I won't have access to it again until about August :(

They are still there.

Box.com changed their URL system a while ago, so old links do not work anymore. But there is an easy work around. You just have to replace "www" with "app" at the beginning of the URL and you can access the files again:

-> https://app.box.com/s/1y49mb8ibab98d7ly1ja (N64 Template)
-> https://app.box.com/s/15151954f07bbfd539f6 (SNES Template)
