I've been getting requests for my templates, so I cleaned 'em all up, labeled the layers, and deleted any extra crap that I had floating around in them.
A few of notes:
- My templates have a .5mm grey border for trimming purposes, which I know many of you don't like. I know you can set crop marks in Photoshop, so please don't try and instruct me how to use the software. My issue is that I would have to set up the crop marks every time I print, and it's not worth the headache for me. Don't like 'em? Then just crop the image down for yourself. Plus, this should make life easier for the many Gimp users on the forum who may not have tons of experience with editing and printing images/photos.
- The SNES and SFC templates share a single file. The layers are very clearly labeled, so using it shouldn't present any problems ;)
- Each file has a group of layers that include various applicable logos and such. I included these just in case you need to plop them elsewhere on the cover. Most remain in vector format, and some have been rasterized (for reasons I cannot recall).
- These have been improved over what I used for my own covers. Nothing in any of these files is comprised of scanned art at this point. Every graphic, every letter of type, and every logo are all from vector-drawn images. Some stuff was web-sourced, and some couldn't be found, so I built what I had to from scratch. This took a fair amount of time to do, so I hope you all appreciate and enjoy how clean this will make your covers look ;D
Here's an example of what I'm talking about.

Also, here's a cleaned up (i.e. vector) version of the SNES "Only For Nintendo" logo
(http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k99/wiggyx/Game%20Stuff/SNES-Only-For-Nintendo.png)
I've got templates for the PS1 (cover and disc), PS2 (cover and disc), Saturn (cover and disc), Wii (cover and disc), Wonderswan (in jewel case), and those UniKeep 20 disc cases that I posted about a while back too. I'll clean those up at some point and upload them as well at some point soon.
If you have any requests, then just let me know. I've already provided a bunch of custom artwork to various members for a variety of reasons. I enjoy doing this sort of thing, so don't be afraid to ask.
Admins, I wasn't sure where to post this thread since the template sub-forum doesn't allow me to make a new thread. Sorry if this is an inappropriate section for this sort of thing.
-
Thanks, your templates are great!
Looking forward to more of your stuff :)
-
Excellent, thank you wiggy! I'm going to convert over all my GB/GBC/GBA cases at the very least.
I would be curious to see your Saturn template.
-
My disc-based templates are very, and I mean EXTREMELY minimal at the moment. I'm gonna add a bit more to them before I post. There's ZERO technical data on the back right now (like number of players, barcode, etc.) I know most folks here aren't down for that level of minimalism, so I'll go ahead and get them more TCP friendly ;)
Here's what I mean when I say extremely minimal.

When you make your templates more TCP friendly, please don't ( i repeat DO NOT) discard your minimalistic templates and covers. I for one am a big fan of custom covers, and I'm not the only one here. If you create a custom cover there's really no guideline besides the quality (i.e resolution, dimensions and so forth). So making them TCP friendly is an awesome courtesy to our members who value all the technical data and it is very much appreciated if you go the extra mile for that. But it is in no way a must. Just in case you ever create a cover that you feel is perfect without all that technical stuff, don't hesitate to upload it because you think it's not TCP friendly.
-
Just a quick one to say great work Wiggy. Keep it up.

Thanks, and I don't plan on it ;)
I've still got a bunch of PS2 and Saturn games to do, and I plan on using my current templates :)
I'll go ahead and up both versions when I get the revisions done. Glad to hear others dig that sort of thing!
Just a quick one to say great work Wiggy. Keep it up.
Thank you so much! =)

Cool stuff. I really like how the NGP template has that bubble around the barcode.
-
Added a template and a SNES vector-built cover graphic. More to come...
-
Loving that Neo Geo Pocket template, and the 64 one. Gotta be a NES one coming at some point yeah? ;)
-
It's funny because I had no intention of making an NGP template, and it ended up being my favorite ;D
Well, I sold my NES collection off in college (one of the last things I wanted to let go of along with my record collection, but that's how it goes). So, I'm in no hurry to do it, BUT, I would like to eventually make templates for every modern system (NES/Master System and up). I've been way more into collecting lately, so maybe I'll start up that NES collection again...
-
I only started NES recently after I got a good deal on an AV Famicom. Loving how sadistically difficult these games are haha.
-
OMG, tell me about it!
I remember getting Rush'n Attack for my birthday one year. I don't think I beat that game until I was like 22 LOL!
-
3/15/2012 - Revised the SNES/SFC template. Now includes Super Scope compatibility icon, Super FX chip icon, and "Only For Nintendo" label.
Enjoy!
-
Great now I'm gonna have to redue all my N64 and SNES covers with the Only For Vectors, they look so much better lol. Nice job!
-
;D
And to that I will add this little present for all of you cover-making fiends!

Giant Mess O' Nintendo logos and graphics! (http://www.box.com/s/bb2bf01275131ea39d38)
-
OOOOOooooo Nice! Thanks for the high rez logos :)
-
Your a super star man, helping me out a tonne!
-
No prob!
95% of those are BETTER than high res, they're vector ;)
-
Added DS template and will up a 3DS later today.
I also have a ton more vector stuff to upload as well. I only upped the Nintendo stuff so far.
-
Seems it's really time to update our templates a lot!!!!!! :)
-
^^^ Thanks!
I'm gonna try and get a few more templates cleaned up this weekend. Hopefully I'll have some more to upload on Monday :)
-
So, I'm pretty close to done with the new PS2 and Saturn templates. What are your opinions?
I'm planning doing PS1, PS3, Xbox, and Xbox360 templates in this vein as well. Any other disc-based game templates that you guys might want in this style?
-
Damn, so no love (or hate) for these templates, eh? :(
-
I like em, they seem kind of futuristic and RAD, I dunno if I would use em, but they do look cool.
Do...
Cd-i
3DO
JagCD
FMTowns Marty
DOS CD
Windows CD/DVD
Mac CD/DVD
TG-16 CD
Sega CD
NES
Atari (2600, 5200, 7800)
I am just naming consoles out of random now...I'll stop.
and DVD/Blu-ray movie templates for multiple titles in one case (Series sets)
Can I get the templates for the PS2 and Saturn?
-
Wow, that's a whole giant mess o' systems to tackle :o
I can get the templates uploaded in the next day or so. Just need to put the last few little tweaks into place and they'll be good to go.
I should also mention that I designed them so that adjusting the border colors would be a cinch, so anyone can have whatever color scheme they want. I was thinking about using a different color for each game to better match the artwork ;)

Would you mind if I adapted the style for Poly cases?
-
Not at all. I'll get the PSDs up as soon as possible ;)
-
We should definitely get a new Atari 2600 template... as far as I know the last ones I saw made were last year and it needs covers BAAAAAD ::) Think you can whip a photoshop template for us?
-
As soon as I'm done getting the write-up for the double/triple UGCs done and finishing up some covers for folks here on the site I'll get back to these. I really wanna get them finished and add more to the line-up, but I got all excited about double UGC stuff that I put this on the back burner for the moment. They'll be coming soon enough ;)
-
I see my Super FX logo is making rounds. lad to see it being used :)

I didn't realize that you're registered here! Damn, I totally rebuilt the vector from scratch using your file as an underlay/reference because I of course wanted it to be totally editable ;) I guess I coulda just hit you up for it :P
-
Wiggy,
I checked most of your boxes. Impressive work, to be admired.
I've been registered here and on cheapassgamer (that's how I found out about this site later on) for some time. But life got a hold of me, wife, house, work and thensome later and I'm catching up to my hobby.
Unlike you, I'm more into recreating/sticking to original NES/SNES/GENESIS packaging
I've redesigned/retraced/re-did a massive amount of logos for my personal use, but seldomly posted them on the net. Some of them are here: http://ImageEvent.com/gamescans/videogamelogos
Some of my boxes (ama begginner): http://vgboxart.com/designer/GameScanner.org/
... and until I've seen your box of SNES Cleaning Kit, I though I was the only one who did a box like that!
(http://photos.imageevent.com/gamescans/nintendosnes/icons/SNES%20Cleaning%20Kit%20by%20gamescanner.png) (http://imageevent.com/gamescans/nintendosnes?g=SNES%20Cleaning%20Kit%20by%20gamescanner.png&w=4)
Oops! Sorry I went off topic. It's just exciting to see that there are many more people who share same passion!
Good luck man :)

I here ya, man. Life can get hectic, and it just seems to get more so the older you get :/
Thanks for the link! I'm gonna be doing a lot right click, saving :D
-
I need the template of saturn please. and your covers for downloads?? thank you sorry for mi english
-
I still haven't uploaded the Saturn or PS1/2 templates. They're pretty much good to go, just need to get them up and posted. All of my covers can be found via the link in my signature below ;)
-
Hey Wiggy I really do like your NES covers and seeing if you wouldn't mind posting the template, thanks man.
-
I believe it's up in my NES thread, which is in desperate need of updating. It is an AI file though and I don't have a PSD version put together at the moment.
-
Oh, ok thanks a lot, love the look of them not sure if I want to redo all my NES covers but you have me thinking about it
-
Just wondering, I've started redoing all my cases into more custom art work, and there's a ton of game boy ones you're missing that I need. Instead of begging for you to make them for me like most noobs seem to, would you be able to at least fix the links so I can download the templates then take a shot at it myself? I love your style there's just so much missing between your and my collections
Also, not sure if you know but it seems almost all your links are not downloading, at least in here and the handheld thread. The previews come up but I can't download
If it's a money thing I'd be willing to talk about paying for your templates to be up maybe another month, I can't be the only guy left on the internet who wants to use them lol
-
Is there a Genesis template of yours somewhere? I tried searching hoping it was floating around, but no luck.
-
I gotta re-up all these templates. Even if you can DL them, they're woefully out of date, and I don't know if I ever upped the Genesis template or not. I'm leaning towards not. I'll get them sorted out when I can. My personal computer is all packed up for the move, and I won't have access to it again until about August :(
-
I love the designs you did for the Gameboy cases and for the N64, but is anyone else have trouble downloading the linked .psd files from Box.com?
-

Tried and couldn't download.
Probably bandwidth limit reached once again.
-
I may have to just host them myself at some point. Seems like the ol' box account ain't cuttin' it :-\
-
If someone has them, I can put them up here on the site
-
I (obviously) have them. I'll drag out my PC this weekend and set it up. Gives me an excuse to do so.
-
Any chance of getting the Genesis and 32X templates?
-
They're AI files, but they're up. I'd convert them to PSD, but I just don't have the time at the moment.
-
Hey,
I wanted to download your N64 and SNES/SFC template. But it seems they are offline. Can you upload them again?
-

They are still there.
Box.com changed their URL system a while ago, so old links do not work anymore. But there is an easy work around. You just have to replace "www" with "app" at the beginning of the URL and you can access the files again:
-> https://app.box.com/s/1y49mb8ibab98d7ly1ja (N64 Template)
-> https://app.box.com/s/15151954f07bbfd539f6 (SNES Template)
-
oh great. Thanks
-
Thank you so much.
